problem connecting to Samba server from windows XP
I run Samba 2.2.8 on my Red Hat 9.
Both smbd and nmbd are running OK. ps -aux | grep mbd
shows the 2 processes, plus, smbclient works fine,
thanks to Christopher.
The Samba server resides on a host with IP 10.10.6.31.
I got this from the smbclient run below:
[root@RedHat samba]# smbclient //REDHAT/test -U jack
added interface ip=10.10.6.31 bcast=10.10.255.255
nmask=255.255.0.0

Kernel panic on import / interrupted zfs destroy
I have a box running snv_134 that had a little boo-boo.
The problem first started a couple of weeks ago with some corruption on two filesystems in a 11 disk 10tb raidz2 set. I ran a couple of scrubs that revealed a handful of corrupt files on my 2 de-duplicated zfs filesystems. No biggie.
I thought that my problems had something to do with de-duplication in 134, so I went about the process of

Handling Multiple Select Lists
Hi All,
After much searching and head scratching I post you this!
I can''t seem to find a generic way to handle multiple select data. The
function I use to receive form values will only pass the first selected
value from a multiple select. I have pasted part of the form and the
function below.
Thanks for any pointers,
Vince

Can't start smbd
OS = AIX 4.3.3
Samba 2.2.8a
smb.conf:

workgroup = METRAN
[test]
comment = For testing only, please
path = /usr/local/samba/tmp

smbd fails to start but did log a pid in smbd.pid. The process is not in the process table.
I ran smbd -i to display the messages:

Time Server? - Answers/Summary
List,
This e-mail simply links all the various topics as one...I started
this thread.
Q1- Samba being the PDC thingy
Q2- "time server" option in smb.conf file
Q3- 'net time' command on Windows clients.
A1- Samba doesn't have to be PDC
A2- Samba doesn't need "time server = yes" in smb.conf
A3- Windows clients were not designed to keep proper time so it's a

newbie: parent-child view
I have a simple database: a list of manufacturers (parent) and the parts
(child) for the manufacturer.
>From scaffold, I have a ?show? view listing manufacturers. I modified
this view to list the parts for the manufacturer. I also have a link to
create a new part. This causes the controller to display a new view to
create a new part for the manufacturer.
So creating the part is AOK,

GLXBadDrawable 158 playing AOE2 GOLD
Couldn't find anything like this...so I had to post. Sorry if the answers are out there.
Depending on how it's feeling (I guess), I can get it to run. But usually only after a fresh install of wine and of AOK. It will run once (just fine) then start to fail giving the following:
X Error of failed request: GLXBadDrawable
Major opcode of failed request: 158 (GLX)
Minor opcode of

Desktop: After yum update and power off, cannot boot new Kernel
Yesterday, in the afternoon, I did "yum update" on my Desktop. Everything
seemed AOK. After power down last night, when I powered on this morning, it
began to boot the new Kernel and then seemed to die. Instead of getting the
progress of the boot on the CRT, the screen was blank and nothing happening.
I am now running off the previous Kernel on this box. Is there a fix for
this, so I can

Kernel panic on zfs import
Hi,
I''ve got an OpenSolaris 2009.06 box that will reliably panic whenever
I try to import one of my pools. What''s the best practice for
recovering (before I resort to nuking the pool and restoring from
backup)?
There are two pools on the system: rpool and tank. The rpool seems to
be fine, since I can boot from a 2009.06 CD and ''zpool import -f
rpool''; I can

Cucumber "standard base" setup?
I''m trying to set up cucumber so we can try it in some Ruby automation
scripts I''m working on. These will be straight Ruby, for use in BBEdit
and TextMate (on the Mac).
NOT Rails.
The big early-stage stumbling block I''m having is setting up the
initial Rakefile and directory structure. I think I''m rtfm''ing, but
clearly I''m missing

The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:901
I am quite new to Linux, and just trying to do some simple things like
get my Linux and windows boxes talking to each other.
I have installed Samba 3.0.6 on Red Hat 9 on a Intel P3 box. I
installed RH without the boxed version of Samba, removed the components
it installed anyway (samba-client and samba-common), and then downloaded
the source code from Samba.org. I went through the Samba

Upgrading bundled Samba in Mac OS X to 3.5.1?
Hi. I just joined the Samba mailing list and this is my first question.
I would like to upgrade on of my PowerPC Macs (running Mac OS X
10.5.8) to Samba 3.5.1 without stomping on the bundled installation
(3.0.25b-apple).
This is something I've never attempted before, and though I've made
progress, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to override Apple's
version of Samba.
So far,

No sound from IVR scripts, yet calls placed without any problem.
Hi,
Bit of a puzzle this one - let's see if anybody else can shed some light...
I Ghosted my Asterisk box to build one for a colleague.
I added one HFC card to make the total two and amended zaptel.conf and
zapata.conf accordingly.
I tested it with my handsets on my ISDN lines and it worked AOK.
I unplugged the box and took it to his house and plugged it in.
He doesn't have any ISDN

Unable to contact active directory or verify claim types
I am running several Solaris 11 file servers with samba 4.7.6. This is
an AD domain but the domain controllers are Win 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2.
All users and groups in AD have unix uidNumbers and gidNumbers assigned.
On one file server, I am having problems where some users can not access
files , via windows, to which they should have access as the group member.
For example,

Migrating from a WinNT 4 PDC to Samba 3 PDC Troubles
Hi,
I've been in the process of attempting a transition from our current NT 4.0
PDC to Samba 3.0.4 on linux (Debian running the 2.4.18 kernel). I can get
the smbd/nmbd up and running just fine and configure them by hand or with
SWAT and the changes are saved.
I've been following the HOWTO's and get stuck at the net rpc vampire step:
I am able to join the linux machine, call it
