smbpasswd -a -m
I am trying to configure Samba 2.2x with Win2K. I need that samba shares a directory in the Linux server and the users Windows access that without authentication. I created the UNIX users (etc/passwd). dic00037$:*:504:65533:DIC00037:/dev/null:/bin/false dic00024$:*:505:65533:DIC00024:/dev/null:/bin/false dic00021$:*:506:65533:DIC00021:/dev/null:/bin/false I creates the Samba users.

"NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE"
Hi everyone, I'm using the online HOWTO manual in the "Quick Start" reference to try and get a basic domain controller going. So I set up smb.conf, and testparm checked out okay, I've started nmbd and smbd, but when I try to to run [root@localhost samba]#smbclient -L <username> -U<username>%<password> session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE <-- I get

degraded performance under domain login load
Hi guys, Not sure how to diagnose this problem however i have recently upgraded one of my schools sites from gentoo to freebsd which moved us from samba 3.0.14 to 3.0.21b and the first thing I noticed was when the students came to login if they all logged in at once the performance of login was crippled to a near standstill! As a test i swapped in the gentoo box and forced the upgrade to

Migrating rails 1.0 app to 1.1 - Noob question
Hi all, I''ve upgraded my system to Rails 1.1.1 successfully. After much looking I haven''t found out how to migrate an existing application to a new rails version though. What is the procedure, if any, for upgrading the application I''ve developed in 1.0? Is there a script I need to run? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Not sure how to do this in zfs
Hello all, I''ve tried changing all kinds of attributes for the zfs''s, but I can''t seem to find the right configuration. So I''m trying to move some zfs''s under another, it looks like this: /pool/joe_user move to /pool/homes/joe_user I know I can do this with zfs rename, and everything is fine. The problem I''m having is, when I mount

zfs
Hi, folks, testing zfs. I'd created a zpoolz2, ran a large backup onto it. Then I pulled one drive (11-drive, one hot spare pool), and it resilvered with the hot spare. zpool status -x shows me state: DEGRADED status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing or invalid. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a degraded state.

systemd, oh my
Ok, folks, I don't get this one at all. I've got a server that I just rebuilt last week, from C5 to C7. It used to export filesystems. Those were moved to another server, and NFS wasn't turned up when I built it. I just turned it down again. And yet, I see Mar 14 10:26:33 <servername> systemd: Job dev-disk-by\x2dlabel-export1.device/start timed out. Mar 14 10:26:33

questions
Hi, I have a samba server running on Linux (RedHat 9.0), with the security set to user and 3 valid user IDs. The clients are 3 PCs running on Windows XP (HomeEdition) and connected through a router. From the PCs running Windows I can see the localhost (Sambas Server), but for some reason one PC can only connect to the share directory on the Samba Server. The questions are as follows. 1. Should

Was, Re: raid 5 install, is ZFS
Speaking of ZFS, got a weird one: we were testing ZFS (ok, it was on Ubuntu, but that shouldn't make a difference, I would think). and I've got a zpool z2. I pulled one drive, to simulate a drive failure, and it rebuilt with the hot spare. Then I pushed the drive I'd pulled back in... and it does not look like I've got a hot spare. zpool status shows config: NAME STATE

using samba 3.14a, windows xp sp2 configured with roaming profiles. the profile seems to download properly but the start menu seems to be empty of shortcuts. anything tht requires reading of files seems to be acting strangely the files exist on the server but somehow they are not read on the workstation all of the /profiles/username directories are configured exactly the same. drwx------ 13

roaming profiles, not roaming
using samba v3 windows xp sp2 clients. i have profiles working to some extent, that is when i create a new user on the server, when that user logs in, the profile gets downloaded from the server from the /etc/netlogon/default user directory. any customizations that the user makes work just fine and get saved to the profiles share under profiles/username when the user tries to go to a different

caches_page questions
I''m attempting to use caches_page to speed up the loading of certain pages on my site, and have run into a couple questions: 1) The site has ''states'' (as in U.S. states), so I have a State model and a States controller. Going to http://sitename/states/ routes you to the States controller, ''index'' action. The States controller looks like so: class

by() subset by factor gives unexpected results
I am having trouble understanding how the 'by' function works. Using this bit of code: i <- data.frame(x=c(1,2,3), y=c(0,0,0), B=c("red","blue","blue")) j <- data.frame(x=c(1,2,3), y=c(1,1,1), B=c('red','blue','green')) plot(0, 0, type="n", xlim=c(0,4), ylim=c(0,1)) by(i, i$B, function(s){ points(s$x, s$y, col=s$B) })

Dialplans & Holiday Dates
I have a working dialplan for our phone system with Mon-Fri, business hours identification, etc. But what I'm lacking right now is support for company holiday dates. What I'd like to do is to create a database of these dates and just update them as new years rollover. I suspect others have done this sort of thing with Asterisk before, but I've not found any resources so far.

undefined method `>' for nil:NilClass
I''m following the Depot tutorial in the Rails book, and have just hit a wall. As instructed by the tutorial, I added the following code to the Product model: protected def validate errors.add(:price, "should be positive") unless price > 0.0 end When I attempt to add a new product, I''m getting an error: undefined method `>'' for nil:NilClass

by() subset by factor gives unexpected results
The answer was (thanks to Mark Leeds) to do with the use of a factor instead of a vector. on [2017-08-05] at 08:57 Myles English writes: > I am having trouble understanding how the 'by' function works. Monitoring Asterisk uptime
We have added Asterisk to a line of 'mission critical' servers at our business, and being in the web application development business one of the core things we do is to monitor web server availability. I'd like to add Asterisk to the servers that our monitoring systems are handling, and also that our SIP trunk provider has our Asterisk system correctly registered at all times.
