Question - Does Samba Recognize non-Primary Group Memberships?
I thought this was true, but In troubleshooting a permissions related issue, I see evidence that it is not. In my previous post, I was asking for assistance in trying to figure out why I was unable to create files/folders over the network, but could so so locally. My Active Directory account is a member of group that have full control of a particular folder according to getfacl. I added that

Arc, I always thought of you as a harmless idiot, but I no longer think you are harmless. You are now alone working on the OggPCM because everyone got tired of your power trip (I always thought some power was required to do that). Funnily enough, from the moment people gave up on you, it took only 24 hours to write a much better OggPCM definition than what you had (even though we don't

Problem with Winbind on Solaris for Samba 3.0.21rc2.
Hello again, I have been testing Samba 3.0.21rc2 with Windows ADS support on SPARC/Solaris 8 and 9 and am experiencing problems with winbind for nsswitch. Firstly, can anyone confirm this configuration this works at all? Secondly, how did you get it to work? I am aware of various difficulties with winbind/nsswitch on Solaris and I thought I had done everything necessary to solve that. My

Sid S-0-0 is not in a valid format
Hi all, I'm trying to get winbind going on a different PC to the one I've already got working, but I can't figure out why winbind won't work on this other PC. It mostly works (wbinfo works, net ads testjoin reports OK) but "getent passwd" doesn't return anything. The winbind log reports this: [2006/01/17 15:27:15, 1] nsswitch/winbindd.c:main(976) winbindd

24 bit flac decoding efficiency
I am trying to decode 192k/24 bit flac on 542 MHZ risk processor, and I am having problems. I seem to be right at the edge of what this processor can do. So I am wondering what functions would be canidates for assembly code optimization? Any suggestions? Or could an older version of code be a batter candidate to use? PXELINUX 6.03 / vesamenu.c32 hang
I've just tried 4.07 and that has the same results. I should note that I appear to be in error about things working OK with menu.c32 as opposed to vesamenu.c32 - I do indeed see the menu (which with vesamenu.c32 it does not get that far), but when I attempt to choose the Windows Deployment Services option, it hangs. Thanks, Dan Jackson (Lead ITServices Technician). -----Original

Mode 0x1b4 errors in logs, unable to save Word documents
Hi all, Our users have started to complain that some of the time they're unable to save Word documents to our Samba drive - Word tells them the disk is full. I had a look at the logs, and there are a lot of weird "Function not implemented" errors. These have been there for a while, but the "Operation not permitted" ones seem new. Nothing on the server has changed.
