No wine applications work (Ubuntu 8.04)
I have Wine version 1.0.0 (I installed it a while ago), which I only recently needed to use. The first thing I did was try to put a DLL into the system folder. But when I clicked on "Brose C:\ Drive" nothing happened, so I tried clicking on "Configure Wine", and this time, the monitor blinked a few times and went back to the login screen. After that, I could browse the C;\

openssh continues to process dash arguements after hostname
Processing dash arguments after the hostname is inconsistant with getopt() usage. It is also inconsistant with other ssh/rsh implementations. It is also not documented. openssh accepts treats "ssh host -l user" as "ssh -l user host" when infact it should be attemption to execute "-l user" on "host" as the original user. It looks like someone wanted to

TDM2400P with echo canceller not working
Hi, I have a box with Debian Sarge, Asterisk 1.2.1 (and zaptel 1.2.1) and a TDM2400P with echo canceller. I installed the card but no echo cancellation is being made...seems like the echo canceller module does not work, infact the software cancellation is working. My zapata.conf has echocancel = 128 and echocancelwhenbridged = yes but no echotraining parameter which gives a warning. I found

kern/157863: [geli] kbdmux prevents geli passwords from being entered properly on boot
Hello, Just to let everyone know that this is still an issue. I am trying to install FreeBSD 9.0 amd64 on a Lenovo X121e and I can't get it to accept the geli passphrase during boot. I've confirmed using kern.geom.eli.visible_passphrase=1 that the passphrase is correct, and the same passphrase is accepted when the system is booted up. I've tried disabling kbdmux in

[LLVMdev] RFC: Atomics.h
In the current trunk, System/Atomic.[h,cpp] define void llvm::sys::MemoryFence(). This conflicts with the MemoryFence macro in <windows.h> and (since it's a preprocessor macro, and not a scoped function definition) causes the sys::MemoryFence definition on Atomic.cpp:23 to explode, as it's nonsensically expanded to a cl intrinsic (_mm_mfence). This breaks the Visual Studio build.

Re: vhost-net requested but could not be initialized
Thanks Wangkai but libvirt infact pre-configures network tap devices and pre-opens /dev/vhost-net file and passes these to qemu as open, ready to use file descriptors. My issue is that my qemu requires that /dev/vhost-net directory is removed and it's kernel module be unloaded. Then it creates a vhost -net device using its own configuration. Indeed, some systems don't support threads! I'm not trying to make it required. I had provided

Re: Universal legend in plot
Dear R-users: I asked a question on how I can have a universal legend in a plot and received the following result. I tried using "layout" but I can't seem to work on the "empty" plot (where I have to have the legend). I tried "oma" but I couldn't improve the quality of the plot, and that I didn't know how to specify all the line types using the

Xenstore daemon is not running after boot; although can be started manually later. Any pointers why ?
Hello, I build and installed Xen (4.1.3) from source, and I think I have got it working. Well, almost. I am using unmodified kernel of Fedora16 as my dom0 kernel. So this is what happened. I am able to boot into Xen, but the "xl info" failed with the standard error message mentioned in the tutorial. "libxl: error: libxl.c:56:libxl_ctx_init Is xenstore daemon running? failed to

Compiling SVN with MediaCtrl
Hey guys, Trying to get wxRuby to compile with the new MediaCtrl option available, and I can''t for some reason, get wxRuby to compile, saying that it can''t find the events for wxEVT_MEDIA_FINISHED, and such. I''ve looked at my compile, and I have the tag enabled for --enable-mediactrl, infact, the full configure line is: ./configure --disable-shared --with-gtk

complex; ifb, masq et omnia
Hi all. I''m using Jamal''s ifb virtual interface from new kernel. Redirecting incoming traffic from external interface like that: # tc [blahbla] match u32 0 0 flowid 1:0 action mirred egress redirect dev ifb0 to ifb to shape it. The problem is that I''m using MASQUERADE by netfilter also. That redirected traffic coming from internet gets to ifb _before_ DNAT is done.

OT: Vista & NTConfig.POL
This isn't technically a samba question, but I figure there will be other samba users out there in the same boat. I have just setup the first Vista box on our samba domain and I am having some trouble with policies (they don't get applied). I have had a look around and there is alot of talk about the adm->admx change, etc but I haven't seen anyone say that anything needs to
