Samba 3.0.2x with trusted domains.
Hello all, we have a samba server on a SLES9 linux box. It is connected to an active directory with multiple trusted domains. With this server, we have strange problems with users/groups in others domains. The users/groups listed in smb.conf that are part of trusted domains are not take in account to access the shares. We cannot as well set ACL correctly on filesystem. This is not an

"Workgroup-login" with plain password does not work from NT...
Hello! Yesterday I wrote a mail to this list. Because it is very urgent and I didn't see any response to it, I kindly please for help again. The problem is: After a server crash I decided to install SuSE 9.2 instead of SuSE 8.0. This SuSE uses samba 3.x. The old (still running) 2nd server uses samba 2.0.3. Both servers are configured to NOT use password encryption and are used as file

samba handles nt logon restrictions wrong
we use samba as member servers with security=domain pointing towards a WinNT4 PDC. accounts that have workstation logon restrictions are unable to connect to samba shared ressources but are able to connect to windows nt shared ressources as they should. normally, workstation logon restriction should deny only interactive logons. the 2.0.5 logfile entry:

optimize function with integral form ?
Hi all, Does anybody have the experience of using optim to estimate variables with integral forms? here the code: trun.mean<- function(x) # t is the threshold { mu=x[1]; sigma=x[2]; t=x[3]; f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2)); pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x); integrate(f,thre,upper=Inf)$value/integrate(pdf.fun,thre,upper=Inf)$value ; } when I

Trusted NT domains won't connect
Hi all, I've been struggling with this problem for quite some time, and I'm hoping someone will have an answer for me. I'm trying to use Samba to authenticate against a campus-wide NT domain setup. As such, I can't change any of the details of the NT domain. The NT domains are set up as follows: +-----> USER1 | MACHINES <-+----->

winbind running in PDC Samba server
Hello, HOWTO chapter 21 describes the use of winbind daemon in a Samba domain member Server, but it's possible (and desirable) to run winbind in a PDC Samba server? The question is due to it that in that case it seems it is not necessary winbind for authenticate/mapping users against a external WinNT4 PDC, the Samba PDC perform authentication itself (and the mapping its not necessary, because

max filename length
I'm having some weird problems with filename lengths. Here are the symptoms: - I can not rename a file from explorer to have more than 127 characters. After typing in a filename, it prompts me with the "are you sure you want to change the extension" dialog. It gets truncated to 127 characters, and doesn't have an extension. The filename shows up from a UNIX shell having only

Hello list, perhaps someone can guide me, finding out what's going wrong in the following scenario (Active Directory , Samba 3.0.20b same with 3.0.28a): CHILD1.CONTOSO.COM <-trusts-> CONTOSO.COM <-trusts->CHILD2.CONTOSO.COM | | | User: CHILD1\testtest | Samba

advapi32.dll
Hello, Have solved all my problems with WINE, but one, which seems harder ;-) I have to run a little proggie "filesign.exe", and the lil bastartd relies heavily on advapi32.dll crypto stuff, (CryptAcquireContextA(), for example). From what I read on the code (dlls/advapi32/crypt.c), most of this functions are stubs, so no luck (it crashes all over with the return FALSEs) So, I tried

changing dir to network drive in Rgui caused crash (1.7.0)
Dear R-help, Has anyone experienced similar problem? On WinNT4(sp6), running Rgui from 1.7.0, when try to change directory to some network drive using the "File / Change dir..." menu, Rgui gets a visit by Dr. Watson. If I first change dir to a local drive, then again to a network drive, it works fine. It also works fine with setwd() from the command prompt. Best, Andy Andy I. Liaw,

userPassword in a LDAP database of a Samba3 domain
Hi folks, I have been able to migrate a WinNT4 domain to a Samba3 PDC domain using openldap as a backend and smbldap-tools to vampire the WinNT4 domain (pretty much following Samba3 by Example and documentation in smbldap project by IDEALX). Nevertheless, all 600 users migraged from the WinNT4 domain have attributes like these on the ldap database: userPassword: {crypt}x

parameter estimation -- Censored mean to real mean
Hi List, Is there anyway to estimate the parameters with integral forms? Here is the function. The idea is to calculate the real mean from the censored mean given normal distribution. I have the function as trun.mean<- function(mu,sigma,t) # t is the threshold { f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2)); pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x); mut <-

crash using bmp() on windows with Rdll2010 (PR#756)
A few weeks ago I have updated R-1.1.1 for Windows with the fixed R.dll (Rdll2010.zip) for Win2k from CRAN. (I have used the same version of R from WinNT4 *and* Win2k for some time.) Now I tried to produce a bitmap, but R crashes (WinNT4): bmp("bitmap.bmp") plot(1:10) dev.off() ## crash! That does not happen with the original R.dll from R-1.1.1 (15 Aug 2000). I cannot test on
