Debian Dist: Samba Start/Stop/Restart Script File Missing
Hello. I have installed the samba 2.0 in and in process... I accidently deleted the samba script file that is contained in the init.d for starting, shutting down and restarting the samba services. Can anyone send me the copy of that script so I can put it back in? It is kinda of lame that I did that in the first place. ---------------------------------- Date: 17-Jan-99

PATCH[001/001]: mboot.c: prefer ELF header over multiboot header
From: Ralf Ertzinger <ralf at skytale.net> If a loaded kernel is in ELF format and contains a multiboot header indicating valid relocation information, prefer the informations from the ELF header. This is in violation of the Multiboot spec, but it's the way GRUB does things and Solaris kernels rely on this behaviour. Signed-of-by: Ralf Ertzinger <ralf at skytale.net> --- diff

Oracle on NetApp
Hello, Anyone using or tested Oracle (OLTP load) on NetApp? Connected via Fibre Channel not NFS. Performance is good or should we better stay with "classic" SAN storage like HP EVA or similar boxes from EMC or Hitachi? In EMC test papers NetApp does not look good. In NetApp papers - vice versa. :) So I'm somewhat confused. I remember someone in this list saying that

NetApp Toaster w/ SMBCLIENT
The problem you describe below is fixed in Data NOTAP 5.3x. If you're on an older version, you might want to upgrade. There's another issue, though. The fix for which should be in the next release of Data ONTAP, which isn't far off (sorry for being vague). If you're interested in a good NetApp mailing list that's not run by NetApp, drop an email to:

Samba - getting long share names from Netapp
We defined a share, sales_cifs_test, on our NetApp server. Note that the length of the name is longer than 13 characters. We can see the share with Microsoft Explorer. We can mount the share from Linux using smbmount. What we want to do is to get a list of shares from NetApp. The tools that can do this are the samba programs smbclient and net. Smbclient will not show names longer than 13

Migrating from NetApp to ZFS
Hi All, We're currently in the process of migrating from a NetApp storage to a ZFS storage, both shared over NFS. We've ran into some problems which were solved by switching to dotlocks instead of flock. But now there's one problem left with the dotlock method. When connecting to Dovecot/IMAP, and moving messages from one folder to another, it is very slow and I'm suspecting this

Adding a NetApp filer to a Samba Controlled Domain
I am attempting to add a NetApp filer to a Samba Controlled Domain. Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? Googleing for information yielded some indication that some kind of RPC bug related to netapp was fixed in 2.2.2 but I couldn't find anything relating to adding a netapp to a domain. I am willing to provide anything else anyone else might want but don't want to clutter up
