File transfers to Windows XP x64 stalling and dying after a few minutes.
I just did a fresh install of Windows XP Professional x64 on my primary machine, and am reconnecting all of my LAN services. One thing I have on my home network is a dedicated file server, running Ubuntu and Samba, used as a general file server, as well as a backup for when I reformatted my main system. While attempting to restore some of my files, I started noticing some odd errors. After a

I've updated samba from Samba version 3.0.24 ( config file in testparm-oldsrv1.txt) to Samba version 3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1 ( config file in testparm-newsrv1b.txt) I've used samba to share a directory which is used to windows 2000 serve as mapped drive. All works fine with samba 3.0.24, but i've a problem in new version: Every 10 minutes the client (w2k server) is disconnected from

File transfers to Windows XP x64 stalling and dying after a few minutes. [SOLVED]
just wanted to post to the list that i just had a very very similar issue to Geoff's but in this case the client OS (using samba as a file server) was Windows Server 2003 x64 R2 SP1 and the samba version was 3.0.24. After much googling and config trial-and-error, i found that upgrading to the recently-released Windows Server 2003 SP2 alleviated my problem. I also corresponded with Geoff

I'am trying to create a ntconfig.pol with poledit, but it doesn't show me any groups to add to the policy. I can see all the users by the way. To eleminate a poledit problem I used the security tab (in german

Samba over bridged ethernet VPN
Hi all, I have Samba 3.0.32 on FreeBSD-7-RELEASE, set up to act as a very simple workgroup file server (i.e., no domain or anything fancy like that). It is the latest version of Samba available in ports. I am seeing timeouts and connection reset errors in my per-client logs such as the following. For clients on the local LAN, the errors don't cause any real problems. However, for remote

Samba Very Slow When Using AFS and MS Office (is this a Bug?)
Hi All, I am having a problem with Samba that seems to be a bug. I say this because I read the archives and they described a problem similar to mine and were told that it was a bug in older version of Samba and the latest version should have it fixed. I am running what is essentially a RH 7.3 on a 1.4GHz Athon with 1GB or RAM. I compiled Samba 2.2.5 in /opt/samba-2.2.5 and am using the following

Disconnected...:( It MUST be a kernel problem OR a Samba problem.
Here's what you asked for - along with some tcpdump data that shows what I'm thinking the problem is...If anyone knows what this is - I'd LOVE to hear it - I've seen lots of posts about this type of error from others, and none of those folks have posted their problem being fixed (they probably gave up on it like I did for awhile...)
