Any docs to convert samba server to Win2003 server?
Yeah I know. Not a good question to ask on a samba newsgroup.
Unfortunately for this client, the software they use requires a Windows
server. Since the box is less than a year old, they do not want to
purchase a second server for two applications. So, I am left with the
task of converting the linux/samba server to WinBloze 2003 Server. There
are only 10 workstations so if I have to unjoin

play each person's voicemail
How do I set each extension to play it's own voicemail prompts? I have vm
working in that it plays the standard "person at extension 1234 is not
available....." and takes the message. I've recorded seperate .gsm files for
each user but can not figure out how to use them.

What gui works with samba 3.x and tdbsam ???
I just setup a new server for a client and everything is running well. I
added and setup all the users from the cli just because that's how I'm
used to doing it. I tried using the samba gui that comes with CentOS
4.03 and I tried Webmin but nether one will add the user proberly to the
tdbsam database. They add the user fine to the /etc/passwd file but
samba does not get updated

samba 3.0.22 and OS/2 connectivity
Hi All
I have a Linksys NSLU2 device which is used to hook USB2 drives upto my
network as network attached storage.
The Linksys firmware upgrade for this device includes samba 3.0.11 which
is a non-starter regarding OS/2 connectivity.
There is an alternative firmware based on the Linksys firmware called
Unslung from http://www.nslu2-linux.org/
The Unslung firmware allows

Setting ACL permissions from Windows
I know I have seen something on this list about this very topic, but I don't
remember a solution posted. I have a Samba server joined to a Windows 2003
domain. On the Samba machine wbinfo -u and -g successfully gets me user and
group lists from the AD machine. Getent passwd and getent user both return
information from the domain, but I still can't Set permissions. I have tried
to create

High CPU utilization
Apparently nobody has a suggestion to why smbd process all of a sudden starts
sucking CPU like crazy? Restarted samba and then restarting the entire server
does not fix it. Searching the archives shows I'm not the only one with this
problem. The archives do not show what to do about it yet. Grr...

Letter case not preserved
All files transferred to my Samba server end up with lower case on the
Unix box. Case is not preserved from NT to Unix. For example, if I
copy C:\Temp\MyFile to a directory on the Samba server, it ends up there
as myfile.
What am I missing?
I browsed the FAQ's in the web pages, without success...

Well it would be at least mildly annoying my previously nice looking file
now has a pile of blank lines in just because someone didn't know
how to use their editor ...

Multiple index instances and ferret/acts_as_ferret
We''re running Ferret and acts_as_ferret in our production environment. We
have multiple mongrels talking to a single index on a separate (virtual)
server over DRb. This is working ok for now, as our index updates are fairly
infrequent. I''m concerned with the lack of rendundancy/scalability in this
layout.
Our index won''t get too big - maybe 100k indexed objects, each no

e2undel for ext3
Is there an ext3 version of this? Something in ext3 makes e2undel unable to
recover unlinked inodes. I just deleted something, umounted the drive to
preserve the state. I used e2undel to look for stuff to recover and it found
0 deleted files.
I have been using e2undel for quite a while with great success and I know hwo
to use it, but it seems to not be able to recover stuff on ext3. Is there

do not want to "upset the appple cart" by bring in something that will
cause conflicts. Is there a step-by-step discussion on how to do this
for php 4.3.9?

maildir question
If I copy message files (from a command prompt) will dovecot get upset
or confused? Do I need to delete index files or anything like that?
I ask because I need to restore some messages from a backup, but not
restore the entire maildir. I tried some the other day as a test, but
the user is saying that they didn't appear.
