how to set valid allowed workstation logins
I'm having trouble setting the Workstations value on a tdbsam backend
using pdbedit. I can't seem to find the correct syntax to accomplish
this.
I found some references in an older version of the HOWTO where there
existed "Chapter 10. Account Information Databases". This whole chapter
is missing from the current HOWTO even though it is referenced in the

DNS A queries for channel
Hi folks,
I've been using * for quite a few years and everyday it surprises me more.
I was recently analysing some captures with ethereal/wireshark and found out
that * was doing DNS A queries for domain names like
channel.mydomain.comwhere channel is the typical string of the
dstchannel or channel field in
the CDR entries.
Obviously those queries returned with negative answer because it

Cannot connect from XP to Samba: Password prompt repeated
Fellow samba folk,
This one's making me want to tear out what little hair I have left.
THE *NIX PLATFORM: FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE, Samba 3.3.8.
THE ENVIRONMENT: Small domain, Windows 2003 servers and XP-pro based workstations. The FreeBSD server is a member server in the domain, so at least that works.
THE SYMPTOMS: This is bizarre. I can, using mount_smbfs on the FreeBSD side, easily

Users can read/write to other user's directories
Hi,
I am setting up Samba on my CentOS server and have Samba version 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1.
I started configuring the smb.conf file and then went on to use webmin to configure it.
I have made sure I have restarted Samba after making changes.
When I connect from my Windows PC to the Samba server, I can read and write to other Samba user's directories.
Here is an ls from my CentOS server:

below and my problem is that the share works successfully however to

Hi
I have a Win NT4.0 PDC srv called "G1" and after I installed a Samba 3.0.5
into a FreeBSD 5.3 beta 5 box
I choose winbind in the ./configure . The main goal I follow is to deploy an
domain member server.
As a result:
Running wbinfo -u I can see the Win NT users, with wbinfo -g I can see the
Win NT groups. All seems to be ok.
Through the Midnight Commander, selecting FILE ->CHOWN I
