cups 1.1.17 RedHat EL 3 ES and samba cannot remove job
Hi,
I configured my samba 3.0.11 with
printing = cups
printcap = /etc/printcap
when In try to remove a job which are printing, I have a acces deny.
But when I look in cups log :
[17/Feb/2005:09:49:13 +0100] cancel_job: job #2478080 doesn't exist!
If I execute lpq -P xxxx, I see that the #2478080 is the size of file to

It's a cups format or a redhat problem or samba problem I

SATA detect fails on ICH7 chipset / Dell Poweredge SC430
Hi,
I have a Dell Poweredge SC420 and a SC430. The SC420 has an ICH6
chipset and works ok with Xen. The SC430 has an ICH7 chipset and the
SATA detection fails. I''ve tried 2.6.11.10 and 2.6.12.5 kernels, with
Xen 2.0.7, Xen-testing and Xen-unstable, all with the same results.
I''m using the same hypervisor and kernel binaries, so problems with
the compiler environment etc. have

tc strange behaviour (some discoveries)
hi All,
seems like a kernel problem
when I do the following on kernel 2.6.12.5
tc qdisc add dev lo root handle 1: htb default 1
tc class add dev lo parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 512kbit ceil 1mbit
all works as expected (traffic is limited to 1mbit), but this doesn''t
work the same
way on kernel 2.6.14.3, and actually only ceil has effect (in my

make tests failure
Re-post, as I think my last post didn't get through. Sorry, if somebody
got it twice now
Hi
I run in the following make tests error and didn't find any solution to
this.
- This is a test on the localhost, so I guess, there is no man in the
middle attack (hosts file is setup correctly, localhost points to
127.0.0.1)
- I don't want to use protocol 1 anyway, so how can I skip

Can't set ACL with Windows XP - why?
Hi there,
finally all seems to be working. Samba 3 as PDC with LDAP Backend. Even ACLs
are possible with the command line tool setfacl. These ACLs work fine in
Samba and are displayed correctly in the Windows filemanager in the
security-tab.
But one thing remains unsolved: why can't I set those ACLs directly from my
Windows client machine? If I try to modify the ACL I always get a message

PXE-Boot fails after reboot with kernel 2.6.x
Hello list,
I've been using PXE Boot for quite some time now and it has been working
without any problems.
I'm using a Biostar M7VIZ mainboard with a VIA KM400 chipset, and
VIA-Rhine VT6102 NIC.
Yesterday I upgrade the Kernel on my net-boot machine from 2.4.24 to 2.6.12.
When I power on the machine it boots up normally.
However, when I reboot the machine, the mainboards PXE-ROM only

Problem with LDAP groups and associated file permissions
Hi folks!
Our smb with LDAP PDC now seems to be nearly completed. Just now we found
out something very mysterious. We organized some directorys to be used by
specific domain groups. If we put a user into a group the user is allowed to
access the associated share. So far this works pretty nice.
If we remove the user from the domain group the user seems to keep all his
rights he got from his group

Re-4: Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
I modified the CUPS access rights (defined in cupsd.conf).
Before that only users of administrative group had access to
the printer configuration parts.
Now I removed all access restrictions, so that anyone
can access all CUPS services (printers, jobs, ...)
(we use this, because sometimes we need to hold printers manually ...).
But, as I mentioned, I don't find the relationship
between this

Re-2: Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
That was a good hint!
Yes, I've installed SP2, and it realy seems to be the Problem.
Now I've checked that on a machine with SP1 - and the jobs
from the same printqueue are removed correctly there!

completed printjobs stay in queue after "upgrade" 3.0.20rc2 -> 3.0.20
A few weeks ago, I upgraded Samba 3.0.1x to 3.0.14a . After the upgrade,
all completed printjobs on all 40 printers stayed in samba's print queue
(they were removed from the unix-printqueue). When I installed
3.0.20rc2, everything back to normal.
But since the upgrade this weekend to 3.0.20, the same thing happens
again: no jobs were removed from the samba printerqueue's.

Samba 3.0.9 doesn't remove printjobs ?
Hello!
I'm using samba with CUPS printing (with raw passthru)
for a long time now and it worked very well.
But after upgrading my samba installation from 3.0.2 to 3.0.9,
the printjobs (sent from XP Workstations) aren't
removed from the joblist anymore.
Means: the job is printed correctly, but opening the
printqueue on the XP machine still contains the job
(not only mine, but jobs from

Can' t delete printjobs spooled in cups
Hi,
i learned a lot about cups, samba and printerdrivers the last few days
and hours. I found a lot of mistakes but i can't change the following
situation:
I CAN NOT delete printjobs!
I can connect to the printers, automatic download the driver, print,
stop the printer, start the printer.
Any tips, links, hints would be nice.
My setup: Debian Sarge - Samba 3.0.14a - Cups 1.1.23. nss_ldap

completed printjobs stay in queue
Jerry,
I'm very sorry for this late answer. I should tweak my mailfilters (I
didn't expect an answer anymore so I didn't check my samba-mailfolder)
That's our situation:
- I tried to revert to 3.0.20rc2 and got the error again
- I installed 3.0.20 again and rebooted, and the problem went away! (I'm
sure that all smbd, nmbd and winbindd daemons were killed before the
