Seeking Speakers for Upcoming Dojos
Hi all,
If you follow the centos-promo mailing list (it exists!)[1] you may have
noticed a lot of discussion lately around putting together a lot of
CentOS Dojos this year.
We're currently planning, and have announced, several Dojos:
* March 31 (Santa Clara, CA):
http://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/SantaClara2014
* April 10 (Denver, CO):

OT: Tux500 Linux Marketing Program
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I found this on my Newsforge newsletter this morning. A group has put
together a marketing program attempting to get some cash together for
Linux to get a sponsorship sticker on an Indy 500 car. CentOS is on the
list of folks who have contributed. Only $25 so far.

John Terpstra Update
Hi,
I'd like to apologise to those who did not attend events in Boston at
which I spoke, or was present for book signings, for not doing more to
create greater awareness and for poor publicity on my part.
(It was never my intent to act in secret.) :)
In response to requests:
1) In future I will notify this list of events I will be present at.
(That may encourage other Samba-Team members to

Open Comment to John Terpstra
John,
It's great to see you on this list. I'm a Samba newbie and recently
found your book, "Samba-3 by Example". I must say this is the best
written "how-to" type of book on any subject I have ever seen. The
various examples fit a number of categories and answered so many
questions for me. I just wish similar books were available on other
applications.
I just

Ogg in my car
I hope this hasn't already been mentioned on the list or I'll kind of look
stupid...
The Ogg Developers may already be aware of this, but I thought this would
be news for most of the people who subscribe to this list. I saw this on
NewsForge where they referenced an article from MP3Newswire.net The article
is about Kenwood announcing a digital music system for cars that supports

Shorewall and ucarp for firewall redundancy
Has anyone toyed with using Shorewall in conjunction with the userland
implementation of the OBSD-based common address redundancy protocol?
Would like any preliminary feedback before I devote time to the project.

Problem with IPComp on VPN
I''ve created an IPSec VPN using shorewall and racoon-tool under Debian
3.1. I''m not using the patched iptables/kernel for policy match,
therefore I''m using the tunnels/hosts config method rather than the
ipsec config file method. I''m running the latest 2.6.13 kernel.
I have no problem getting my VPN connection up and running with one
exception. Without

fsck in startup scripts
Thanks for a great file system!
I have a two-node cluster working as a HA NFS server. This system has
worked fine for almost a year, but recently I found that an ocfs2 file
system had been corrupted and needed to be repaired with fsck.ocfs2.
Even though I don't think that any data was lost I found that 4 of my 14
ocfs2 partitions had some errors which were corrected by fsck.ocfs2. I

does SSH.COM really in fact approve of the generic meaning of "SSH"?
I hate to open up a discussion that may already be closed (I haven't
really followed the trademark dispute other than via the postings to
NewsForge, and in particular the one on March 7), and I can't find on
www.openssh.com an obviously more appropriate address to send this
thought to, so.... [note my reply-to address]
though the message below purports to come from <owner-ssh at

A better fix for the /lib/tls problems
Further to the email below from a few weeks ago, I can announce that
Xen/Linux 2.6 handles the TLS problem (-ve accesses into segments) by
dynamically rewriting the offending instructions.
This is enabled by default in the 2.6 kernels, and reduces the
overhead of handling those instructions to almost zero (compared with
around 100% overhead when using pure emulation in Xen, when running

Dear Friends and colleagues,
John Wilder Tukey died last night of an accumulation of physical problems.
We shared a mince pie (his favorite) on Monday night in his hospital room,
and he was in good spirits, but in the end his body failed him.
He left us with his mind intact; despite the

[LLVMdev] FYI: Yes, llvm.org is down. We're waiting for John or someone from UIUC to help get it back up.
John's been contacted, and the IRC is active, but no ETA yet. It's not a
convenient hour in the TZ for UIUC folks.
When any of us have more information, we'll post here.
