rpm -qa not displaying sources
Hi All, I must have missed something here. I installed my kernel source using rpm -ivh kernel-`uname -r`.el5.src.rpm it installs perfectly, without error, but if I cd to the /usr/src/redhat folder, all I get is SOURCES and SPECS... rpm -qa | grep kernel doesn't return the kernel source rpm I installed only the kernel, devel and headers. And I can't find the actual kernel source

Wine and Windows 2000
I had the latest wine running under winblows 98 SE for a week or two with no problems, then I installed winblows 2000 and now I cannot get wine to work. It is important for me to get it running again since I run United Devices cancer research agent (http://members.ud.com) 24/7 to help them find a cure for cancer. Is wine compatible with Win2k, or will I need to re-install 98 again? -- Interested

PXE Linux boot to F12 automatically
HI There, Firstly a bit about me. I am a bit of an old school PXE user from the Kingdom of Gates. I have also spent years in the Linux playground. While I have never been a programmer I am fairly competent in scripting languages, both on windows and Linux. My occupation is "System Builder" I build operating System images and discs (not the OS itself). So I actually customize OS's.

Compile driver for new kernel rpm
Hi All, My question is directed at those with kernel compiling experience. I have a driver source xxxxx.c file and a Makefile with it. I want to recompile the kernel to include the driver and rebuild the initrd.img. Where do I copy the file in the kernel sources? I currently have it in a sub folder of the drivers directory in the kernel source folder. There is one more question if I may, it does

Need to rebuild installation CD
Hi All, I would be lying if I said I am a newbie, but I am rusty so please bear with me. I am looking for a how-to for Redhat or Centos to remake the installation CD. First let me explain: I have an installation disc supplied to me, with centos 5.2 which has kickstart, post and pre installation scripts which run. The problem we have is that the CD does not support our CDROM (it8213). I have

Roaming profiles - exclude Application Data from roaming profile
Hello All, I have a problem with my roaming profiles where they are becoming too large due to the Thunderbird mail accounts (stored by default) in Application Data. What I would like to do is exclude this directory from being part of the roaming profile. How can I do this? Also, how hard is it to have some users not use a roaming profile but others continuing to use a roaming profile? We

More roaming profile-Windows XP Data
Hello, I have a Samba 3.0.2a PDC that I have joined server Windows XP machines to. Joining the domain was painfully enough, but now I am having problems with roaming profiles. We initially thought the problem was intermittent, but we finally figured out that if the same user logs in again and again the roaming profile is found and login proceeds normally. When a second user attempts to

Roaming profile & f-secure problem
Hi, are there any know problems with f-secure scanner and roaming profiles? We have a lot of users with problems syncing their roaming profile from the domain server. It seems to be a problem with f-secure's on-access scanning (may be timeout problem?). Some users have to login three or four times, before getting their roaming profile and not the default profile. need roaming profile + local profile
Hi I've got a samba pdc set up but I've got a strange problem. Everything works fine I can login with the roaming profile BUT I also need a local profile, without the local profile he says that he cannot find the domain name. And the local profile has to be administrator or he doesn't remember my preferences of all my programs and settings. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

location of roaming profile
Why is it more secure to create a separate share for storing user profiles? I've tested using: [global] logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U [profiles] path = /var/lib/samba/profiles And this works fine. But, why not just put the profile in the home directory? I can see that a user might save a file on the desktop and then not be able to find it. When I previously used roaming profiles on a

Is there a way to support both local and roaming profile with one server / domain?
Recent list messages got me thinking... Is there a way to support both local and roaming profile with one server / domain? As I understand it, the "magic" line that tells Samba not to do roaming profiles is the smb.conf line: logon path = Which the line must exist, and must be set to null. But that is in the global section. So is there a way to support both local and roaming...

Roaming Profile synchronization errors on new samba
I too have been experiencing the same issues with my Samba server and Windows 8. I am currently running Samba 4.0.3. My Windows 7 client's profiles are synchronizing, but I am receiving that same error on my Windows 8 machines. The user has full permissions over their roaming profile directory, so I'm not too sure what the issue is.
