LDAP howto
Does anyone know of a good Samba-LDAP howto for Debian (Sarge) systems?
I probably don't need it for my home network, but I'd like to learn how
to do it anyway. My previous attempts to get it working have failed. :(

silhoutte.default bugs
Hello all,
This might have been fixed in later versions (I am using R1.7.0), r-help
archive contains messages reporting similar problems but no reports of
codes fixes. I have encountered a couple of problems using the
silhouette function. one occurs when the clustering contains clusters
composed of 1 element (Martin Maechler posted code few months ago that
fixes a similar problem that occurs

RES: Is Samba ready for it?
Thank you all, for the advices and answers.
They are being very useful.
And I may not know a lot of things about Samba but I sure know why samba
was written for (cheers John!) :-)
BTW I am reading the Samba-HOWTO-Collection, thanks again.
I considered changing to LDAP but time was a problem (as usual), now I
will reconsider the LDAP idea.
I will use the Samba 3 new release as soon as possible,

Hi Greg,
Really, the first step to install filesystem it with support ACL. It looks at my archive:

RES: Re: ACLs with Problem
I believe that you it did not understand my explanation. I have a Linux server executing samba intergrated with a server windows 2003 (PDC). Linux is using the users of windows 2003 saw winbind. But, the permissions for these of archive do not function. When I try to change the permissions of an archive in the sharing of the samba, it I do not function. The part of ACL of the samba is not

Problem installing a particular printer WinXP/Samba2. 2.7a
Has the driver for this printer been installed on
the samba server? If it has, it may have to be
reinstalled.
If the 4550 can't be installed on the server,
you can create a printer share for
[picasso] and use:
	use client driver = yes
	path = /var/spool/public
	create mode = 0700
	printable = yes
	public = yes
	browseable = yes
Then the Win2k/XP clients will install the driver
locally,

Samba AD - Issue with winbindd: Could not write result
Thanks Rowland for response.
OK, setup the "log level = 10".
I noticed something today. I have to restart the samba server 2 times. In the second restart I did a named restart too. Maybe could be something related to communication to named?
I did the named.conf conforming the wiki, adding these 2 lines:

Samba and netgroups in LDAP
Hello,
Has anyone got netgroups working with Samba 3.0.14a where the netgroups
are stored in the LDAP directory? I'm using Solaris 9 and SUN's
directory server v5.2.
What I'm seeing is that samba goes through the motions of looking up a
host in a netgroup, but no query is seen by the LDAP server or on the
network and the host is never found in the netgroup.
Any help would be

I would like to have changes (chown) in the destination.
However, some files did not changed size or rights. All files should have new owner.
Thanks,

[SOLVED] RE: Samba and AD integration
Problem solved.
As long as I know it is related to the fact that I was using the same range of ID's (both GID and UID) in my smb.conf.
Change these values to different ranges and I am now being able to authenticate well.
Best regards,

Where do SIDs come from?
Hello,
I've got a potentially major problem:
I've recently changed from samba-TNG (vintage last February) which was
working tolerably well in our environment barring a few locking problems
and the ever increasing tdb files and memory footprint.
As our number of clients has passed 150, the amount of memory used on
our Solaris server became unsustainable and I took the decision to migrate

Possible change to group behaviour from 3.0.14a-> 3.0.20?
Hello,
I may be missing something, but it seems that there has been a change
between 3.0.14a and 3.0.20 which means that a user's primary UNIX group
HAS to be mapped to a valid NT group (i.e. the primary UNIX group in the
LDAP DB has to have the sambagroupmapping attribute and a SID). Can
anyone confirm this as a new requirement or am I being a bit stupid?
I'm using an LDAP backend with
