Upgrading Samba
I am in the process of planning for a samba upgrade. The current version of Samba (2.2.8a) runs on a Sunfire 280R with Solaris 8. The intended new platform is a sunfire V240 with Solaris 9 as the OS. The new version of Samba will be Samba-3.0.10. Please note that the Samba server will be a member of a domain. I've read Samba-3 by Example, Chapter 8 which describes to the process of updating

On some of my printers the printing of banner pages is enabled. In some instances when a user submits a print job it prints with root as the owner on the banner page and not the user's who

samba inconsistent printing behavior
Hello all. I've set up a Samba server on a Sun E280 box running Solaris 8. The server is part of a domain. I am having some problems printing. I can setup the printers on the Windows NT workstations using the Add Printer wizard. However, when I try to print I get inconsistent results. After installing the printer the workstation has to be restarted (sometimes more than once) before anything

In a couple of weeks we will be upgrading our production server to Solaris 9 and are planning on doing a fresh install of Samba 3.0.10 at the same time. I will be saving the following files to be restored after

I have a to a samba server (4.4.16) on built on Solaris 11 samba pkg. It is a member of an Active directory domain. Samba 4.4.16 %g translation fails for some users
Hi all, Just migrated users to a samba 4 server on built on Solaris 11 samba pkg. Some users are mapping all required drives (G:, H:, and I:) but some are not able to map them. The affected users user log files indicate that the %g variable is being translated to '-1' instead of the users Unix group. I would welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. >From my

I am trying to ssh from one samba server (linux OS) to another samba server (Solaris OS). The keys and authorized_keys files are set up correctly with proper permissions but I keep getting prompted for a password. Has anyone had to deal with this before? winbind LOGON_FAILURE
Environment: Redhat 7.3 Kernel 2.4.18-4 Samba 2.2.7 NT4 Domain I have replaced the actual domain name and the name of the PDC with words DOMAIN_NAME and PDC_NAME. In both cases, the correct domain name and pdc name are used. I removed, waited, and then re-added my linux server to our domain from the server manager on our PDC. When I then run smbpasswd -j DOMAIN_NAME -r

hme0 interface going up/down (dhclient ?)
Hi all, I am having an issue where my hme0 interface is always turning up and down with dhclient requesting a lease. I am thinking this could be the same issue described by Jeremy Chadwick on June 9th: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2013-June/073711.html Everything was fine on 8.2-STABLE and older versions. It was then upgraded directly to 9.0-STABLE

Preliminary vcut patch for chained streams
Hi all, The attached patch for vorbis-tools 1.2.0 fixes vcut so it can handle multiple chained Vorbis streams in the input file. This restructures large parts of the program to avoid duplicating code (e.g., process_first_stream and process_second_stream were very similar). The error handling is still incomplete, but I'd appreciate hearing any comments people have on this version. I think
