Dovecot Director upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3
Hi, I have a setup with 3 Dovecot Director v2.2.36 and director_consistent_hashing = yes ;-) Now I would like to upgrade to 2.3.7, first only Director and after also Backend. Can works fine a ring of director with mixed 2.2 and 2.3 version? Mi idea is to setup a new Director server with 2.3, stop one server with 2.2 and insert the new 2.3 in the current ring to check if works fine. If all

Dovecot optimisation
Hello all. We start to use Dovecot at our email production but it runs not such fast as we expect. We use Dell 2950 with 4GbRAM at FreeBSD-7.0-p9 - load avarage never upper a 0.5 We have about 500 clients most of it use Outlook 2007 via IMAP. We run in this problems: 1) Sync of imap folder is really slow(I think it is Outlook problem) 2) Time after time we got Sync error from outlook 3) Time

Gnu sieve vs Dovecot sieve-filter - sieve-filter extremely slow at lda (writing emails to local mbox files)
I am wondering why sieve-filter is so slow compared to gnu sieve. I run mpop (like getmail) to download from a pop3 server to a local mbox file: ~/mail/email-incoming-unsorted This step is very fast. The next step, I throw the email-incoming-unsorted mbox file at a sieve processor, to sort the emails from that mbox, into other mboxes, according to the sieve rules file. Up until a couple days

XP Joining domain
I'm attempting to join a Samba 3.0.4 domain on a Debian linux box, with a Windows XP client. Problems 1) Can only get the join to work if I use the root account. On Win2k I can use any account in the Domain Admins group. 2) The join succeeds, the unix account and the smb account are created but the smb account is disabled, and the password contains all XXXXs. Joining the domain works

Dealing with MySQL disconnects on long running scripts.
Would anyone happen to have some advise for this? I have a script that runs for months at a time. On one box, I can do this without issue, on another it disconnects after a day. I''ve been trying various solutions, but since it takes a day to test any idea, it''s been very slow going. I''ve tried Issuing a reconnect command, after any ActiveRecord error. Which

Icecast server terminates
Hello Everybody, I am new to this list, maybe boring and annoying questions will be asked from you, but please help me if you can. :) I have a problem with the icecast server version 1.3.11. I am running it on a RedHat linux 7.0 box, with my own C++ program that uses the libshout development library (1.0.5). My program connects to the icecast server and feeds it continously with mp3 data.

High CPU on multiple syncs on Win2K
Hi all, Allow me to quickly sketch our backup situation: we have about 40 sites. On each site there's a Rsync client on an NT machine (Cygwin). In the main site we have a huge Win2K fileserver which acts as a Rsync server. I'm doing tests now with syncing the volumes of several Netware servers on the sites (to which the Rsync NT clients have a mapping) to the Win2K server. Initially we

Samba(4) + AFS
This maybe more appropriate on the developers list but I'll ask here first. Anybody know if any improved support for AFS is being added to either samba 3 or 4? We currently share all user home directories, shared files, web sites, etc. etc. from AFS using Samba. This setup is working great, thank you to everyone involved!! I'm just concerned that AFS support might not make it

Samba+Kerberos+OpenAFS
Okay I don't think what I want to do is possible but here goes. I want to deploy a samba domain for my windows clients, but I want samba to use AFS on the back end. But AFS requires kerberos to get tickets and tokens. So is there anyway to make this work. I personally don't care if samba accepts kerberos tickets from the client or not, but a ticket and AFS token will need to be

Print Operator Rights in AD environment
I am attempting to set the SePrintOperatorPrivilege right on my RHEL 5.2 samba server and need some guidance. The samba box is currently joined to an AD forest in which I have a delegated OU, I do not have a Domain Admin account. Samba seems to want/need an Admin account in order to make changes to the server configuration such as rights. So the question is. Is there away to set a

Security question
I've been googling for a while now and haven't found a decent answer to this question. How do I allow users to join the domain without handing out a domain admin level account? Is there someway to limit what other domain features this account has access to? Thanks, Derek -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: PGP.sig Type:
