Changed PDC IP, all hell broke lose
I had to move my RedHat 5 box acting as a PDC to a new IP address. It is running samba 3.5.10. After the move, none of my windows or linux samba clients worked anymore. I tried rejoining some to the domain, but would get error Unable to find a suitable server Join to domain 'MRIRESEARCH' is not valid The old PDC IP address is 132.183.202.95 and nothing is at that IP anymore (for 4

domain_master_node_status_fail: ... Cannot sync browser lists.
This looks like a bug to me, except . . . no one else seems to have encountered it, and it's in a pretty basic area, so there must be something wrong at our site. When the Unix server becomes a local master browser, Samba is unable to sync its browse list w/that of the DMB. None of our NT machines are having any trouble, and our tech. support guy says the DMB is in good health. Rebooting

Cannot Sync Browser Lists
I run an IPsec/Freeswan VPN to connect 4 disparet windows LANS. I managed to RTFM until cross-subnet browsing worked (samba 2.0). Having upgraded to 2.2.3 It would seem that this feature is not working. BACKGROUND: originally all sources of information led me to understand that I would need a box running samba behind the firewall/IPsec box as I could not even ping a remote internal IP from the

Slow Access *oopps*
Don't know how that last email took off, but that wasn't suppose to happen. Any the root 3 59.6 0.0 0 0 ? R< 10:16 11:04 [events/0] is a kernel thread that handles weird irq stuff. I just disabled onboard sound and USB and it went away. I'm still left with my other problems though, here they are 2.) I'm having LMB and DMB problems on the server,

wins: no nmblookup on 192.168.1.255 but 192.168.1.2
Hi, here is a client computer and a server computer (Debian Wheezy, armel, samba Version 3.6.6, IP address: 192.168.1.2, Name: xyz). Problem: wins doesn't answer nmblookups by the client on the broadcast address: client$ nmblookup -S xyz querying xyz on 192.168.1.255 name_query failed to find name xyz Why is that so? How to fix this? When I specify the the server IP I do get an answer:

WINS question
Morning everyone. Just have a quick question regarding WINS on samba-3.0.3. Running FreeBSD 4.9, with samba-3.0.3 built from the ports tree. The only thing I needed from this particular server at this time, was it to function as a WINS server for our company. I went ahead and did the basics, as setting the netbios name as well as saying 'yes' to wins support. However, I cannot tell if

Trust relationship failed...
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand in figuring out this problem, I have seen several other similar problems in searching, but nothing that exactly matches what I am seeing here. I have recently migrated a client from a Samba server running 2.2.7 (Redhat 9) to 3.0.2 (Fedora 1). The samba installation is running as a PDC for 5 Win XP workstations and was working perfectly prior to the

domain_master_node_status_fail
I'm trying to set up Windows browsing between subnets. I've set up a domain master/WINS server on the .0 subnet, and local masters on the .42 and .254 subnets, and I'm running into the above error on one - just one - of the subnets. The strange thing is that I'm running exactly the same version of RHEL on another subnet - and I'm getting no error. 3.0.25 on RHEL5. The

Browse.dat not syncing
I'm not sure where else to turn for this, I've seen this problem mentioned in a multiple places but haven't seen any resolution for it. Below is what's showing up in my remote samba WINS server. My setup is that I've got the samba servers connecting through a dedicated VPN. I've set up the WINS to allow for browsing across the VPN. If anyone can help me out or point me in

Cannot sync browser lists across subnets
I've recently setup a Samba Local Master Browser on a new subnet. It can communicate on ports 137 and 138 across subnets with my Samba Domain Master Browser, but when I query the Local Master, I don't get a complete browse list. The following entries shows up in /var/log/samba/log.nmbd at the local master: nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:domain_master_node_status_fail(262)

browse list sync problem
I have a network with 3 subnets. There is a PDC one one subnet, and a WINS server on each of the first two subnets which are replication partners. (These three machines are running Windows 2000 Server.) So my setup looks something like this: Topology: 10.50.x.x | +------+------+ | | 10.0.x.x 10.100.x.x 10.50.x.x: Server 1: Win2k:

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Sometime after I installed samba and got everything working, one of my colleagues changed the IP address on the box I did the install on. So after I got passed all the other issues that plaqued me after moving over to fedora 11, I discovered that I could not added Win clients to the domain. I dug into the log files: Jul 8 15:24:03 ldap2

Bug with syncing browser lists with a NetBIOS scope ID in place
Howdy all -- I have discovered a bug in samba (I'm running v2.0.5a) when a NetBIOS scope ID is being used. Essentially, samba will use the configured scope ID for everything except for when nmbd tries to do a node status on the PDC as part of syncing the browser lists; when it does that node status, it does it *without* the scope ID, and it fails. Our network consists of a main IP subnet

SAMBA: Share specific log files
Hi all, We are trying to print the log messages pertaining to each share in a different log file for auditing purposes. We are using Samba v3.0.20b. We are trying to modify the file smbd/service.c::make_connection_snum() function by changing the log file full path. The code changes that is done are as follows: char logfilefullpath[70]; char sharename[256]; safe_strcpy_fn
