Perhaps silly question - network browse problems...
Hi folks;
This may not even be Samba related, but I'm stumped, so I thought I'd toss
this one out here.
All the client machines are on 192.168.1.x, all netmasks are configured as
/24, etc.
I cannot browse the network. I CAN connect to a resource on the server just
fine if I specify the full name, but an attempt to bring up the network
browser shows the network name (DENNINGER) but

Problem with Samba 3.4.3 - previous 3.3.x worked fine
Hi folks;
I have an odd one.
I recently upgraded from 3.3.x to 3.4.3 and suddenly lost both the old
"smbpasswd" file AND the ability to connect to printers from Windows 7
clients.
File server is fine, and everything else is working - I can connect to
printers from XP machines, but not from Windows 7 any more.
I get an "0x00000000d" error from Win7 when I try to connect....

problems with hylafax + iaxmodem + asterisk1.8.5
Hi!
from 2 days I'm trying to run hylafax server and iaxmodem with Asterisk 1.8.5.
I have 2 computers in the lan, one is the Asterisk PBX and the other is the server with hylafax and iaxmodem installed.
In Asterisk I set up an IAX trunk in this way:
___________________________
iax.conf
[iaxmodem]
type=friend
context=outgoing-fax
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
username=iaxmodem
secret=password

crypto, readline and zlib libraries - Postgres install
I have the 5.x Centos DVD and loaded it.
Please be gentle with me, as I'm nominally a FreeBSD kind of guy... :)
Anyway, I'm trying to install Postgres and the three libraries in the
subject line are missing off the base installation. I figured out how
to load gcc using yum, but those libraries aren't there, and I need the
former in particular in order to enable SSL for Postgres

SIP message routed back to mysql
Hello!
* Version: 1.6.0.3-rc1
Scenario: * -> Proxy -> routed back to myself (The only thing changing
is the Request URI)
(And the Record-Route, Via that are added, of course).
Outgoing Context is faxserver-out, incoming context is faxserver (at
least should be).
Outgoing context is straight forward:

Intel Mobo MARVEL RAID adapters and amd64 FreeBSD on QuadCore and i7 series Processors
These show up under Windows XP as if they are SCSI adapters (they're
not, obviously.)
Has there been any view towards supporting these on FreeBSD? They're on
all the recent Intel motherboards for the last year and a half or so.
Also, is there any particular benefit (or penalty) to running the amd64
build on Quad-Core or i7-series processors? I have an app that might
benefit from

reduce delay in fax detection
Hey;
Yes, I?ve also seen that 5 second delay with our fax server and it drove me crazy. How I solved it was by doing a ?core show channels <concise|verbose>? and detect if there was a fax transmission going on. Doing it this way shows up instantaneously without any delay. Like so:
mte6*CLI> core show channels concise

reduce delay in fax detection
hello and thank you so much for your reply
just one question: how do you use it? AFAIK, when asterisk receive a call,
it select extensions based on the received number and when it detects fax,
jump to the fax extension. now when should i use these show commands to
detect fax and how should i tell asterisk to execute fax extension?
this is a big problem for me, so i really appreciate if you help

W2k/w98 don't see printers on samba-3.0.0beta2/3 in "Add Printer" dialogue
Hello,
I've tried both samba-3.0.0beta2 and beta3 but
both give me the same problem.
When on a windows dekstop and trying to add
a printer with samba as the printserver , the
printers exported by the samba server are not
seen by the windows "add printer dialogue" e.g.:
relevant part of smb.conf:
-----------------------------------
load printers = yes
printing = cups

IKEv2/IPSEC "Road Warrior" VPN Tunneling?
Is there a "cookbook" for setting this up? There are examples for
setting up a tunnel between two fixed-address networks (e.g. a remote
LAN that needs to be "integrated" with a central LAN over IPSec but I
can't find anything addressing the other situation -- remote user(s)
where the connecting IPs are not known in advance, such as a person with

BRI Fax out through PRI?
Having seen all the discussions about troubles with faxing I am thinking
of another solution, keeping it all digital.
I want to put two ISDN BRI cards in a faxserver (not running Linux). The
two BRI ports will be connected to a QUAD BRI card in an Asterisk box.
The asterisk box will have a single PRI span for communication to the
PSTN.
Basically the setup will be:

Asterisk + iaxmodem + hylafax makes sometimes wedged for hylafax
Hi, we have a faxserver with Asterisk, IAXModem and Hylafax.
Faxes come from a SIP trunk to Asterisk, then are forwarded throught 5 IAXModems managed with Hylafax.
Hylafax users can also send faxes to these modems and Asterisk send them throught the SIP trunk.
We also have a dedicated modem used only for sending faxes coming from an Hylafax dedicated user.
Sometimes Hylafax reports that a modem

Email to HP Product Suggestions - Seamless Transparent Fax Gateway
i sent a product suggestion to HP. It was a request to use software that
already exists in their JetDirect and Multifunction Fax machines to make
them seamlessly interoperate with a fax gateway in a way transparent to the
end user. Essentially, giving the sysadmin a choice in fax transport
mechanism to route all faxes over analog telephone transport or over the
network.
Thank you for taking

MFI driver
Hi folks;
I have acquired a rackmount Intel server with a RAID card in it that appears
to be compatable with the MFI driver.
To put it mildly, this thing SMOKES! It is SCREAMING fast. Insane, in
fact.
Ok, enough supurlatives.
Now the question is this - exactly what board(s) will this driver support?
Is it only the two that are listed in the hardware release notes?
LSI has a number of

samba-tng-alpha-0.14.tar.gz
ftp://samba.org/pub/samba/alpha and mirror sites.
finally resolved some of the niggling issues that have kept tng from
working: in particular, thanks to karl denninger for helping track down
"invalid users = root" in the [global] section which stops root from being
able to access anything, including being able to add user accounts!
tng is now back where it was about 6 weeks ago:

Updated patch for 8824?
I don't suppose anybody has an updated CalledID patch for Asterisk 1.4.26:
https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=8824
I've been running 1.4.21.1 for a while and have the need to update one
of our Asterisk Conference/Faxserver/switches and wanted to see if the
patch available would apply. It failed in several places. This keeps
me from updating my other installs.

Zaptel/Zapata config from T410p to Brooktrout T1
HI, I'm trying to config a span from port 2 of a DIgium T410p to a Brooktrout TR114-P8V-T1 card. I have a T1-PRI from the TELCO in port 1 (thru first port) working just fine with Asterisk 1.0.3 - been working fine for some time now. No problem with dialplan PSTN calls. Now I'd like to "route" specific DID numbers in thru the TELCO T1-PRI and out thru the second port (span) on

fax server functionality on Asterisk
List,
how can I put fax server functionality on Asterisk? * as a reliable fax
server for 500-1000 fax/day (mostly incoming)? Fax server should be like
HylaFax, i.e. stable, low maintenance and functionality like receiving
fax as email with PDF attachment, sending faxes per WHFC.
Faxing with spandsp using bri_stuff (BeroNet/Junghanns quadBRI ISDN
cards) shortens some faxes, or faxes loose lines,
