smbclient not displaying shares
I have just recently installed Samba. I have two WinXP Pro machines networked to a FreeBSD 5.4 computer. The Printer is connected to one of the WinXP machines currently. This is the output of the 'smbclient' command. smbclient -U user-name -L winxp Password: Domain=[winxp] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] Sharename Type Comment ---------

WinXP. Ugh.
I'm sitting here tonight trying to get WinXP to map a printer on a Samba share. First off, one thing I find disturbing is that XP seems to be aware of Samba servers. When I open a window to one, it says on the window bar "Samba 2.0.7 (nameofserver)" *shudder*. Anywho. I'm trying to map to a printer, and it seems to take forever and a week to come up. I've managed to map

Hmm. Silly(ish) question re: winbind
Hmm...I've never tried it with a local user and a domain group. I've certainly done stuff like: chown DOMAIN+David:"DOMAIN+Domain Users" * and had it work before... -----Original Message----- From: Glenn Sieb [mailto:ges@lumeta.com] Sent: Monday, November 26, 2001 11:00 AM To: Samba Mailing List Subject: Hmm. a lot off nmbd
Hello, I have installed a new server with mandriva 2007 free edition, with samba 3.0.23d on it. It is good but a new nmbd appears every 5 minutes and they don't die when I stop samba. So, I compiled samba 3.0.24 and ... idem. This is not my first install, on my other servers they're only 2 nmbd. With this install, after one day, I have more than 250 daemons, it is the hell ! What

Want timestamp to change when copying from WinXP to Samba share
Hi folks, Windows has a default behavior of preserving timestamps when you copy a file. I want to update the 'Date Modified' timestamp to current time when I copy a file from Windows XP to a Samba share, just like a unix file copy would. Is there some way of doing this? Maybe w/ a script? 'dos filetimes' and 'dos filemode' don't seem to do the trick. Here's my

Rd cross-references ... WARNING in R-2.10.*
I have observed a difference in behavior of R CMD check in older R vs R-2.10.x on windows. * using R version 2.10.0 (2009-10-26) * using R version 2.10.1 RC (2009-12-14 r50718) 2.10 seems to be looking on the internet for crossreferenced packages. txfax/rxfax fun
Hi Gang, I'm trying to make an application to upload a tiff via a web interface, slap a cover page onto it, merge the two into a new tiff and send it out via txfax. I'm able to get it out to a fax machine using this sequence: /usr/bin/tiff2pdf /tmp/faxout/1229978819_filea.tif -o /tmp/faxout/1229978819_filea.pdf /usr/bin/gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=pdfwrite

problems with lighty on linux
I''m trying to get our app running on Lighty... I followed Ezra''s instructions: http://brainspl.at/pages/rails_stack... Currently the app runs fine with webrick, but with lighty I get 404 errors on everything. I found if I don''t edit the lighttpd.conf file to use absolute paths, it works fine. But this is not good for production because I need to run it with the -d
