Hello, I'm a bit desperate so I'm trying to seek help here. Many year ago, I built myself 2 file servers (5 disks enclosure for data, 2 disks enclosure for the OS) on a computer. Hello, I have a big problem with a samba setup. After I tried the config option smb ports = 139 in the global section, 90% of the roaming profiles are not usable by the windows XP clients. Removing the smb ports options didn't help. No errors in the samba logfile. erasing the profiles seems to fix the issue, but I cannot afford losing all my users profile data! here is my smb.conf.

Hi, this reminds me of my troubles of setting up samba BDC at remote company branch. Connection was done by IPSEC tunnel between 2 mikrotik routers. Thing was, ipsec supports only unicast, but not multicast,nor broadcast. Solved it by adding L2TP tunnel that support the above mentioned mechanisms. So ended up with the l2tp (which has very weak encryption and is very old and vulnerable)
