Accessing member server prompts for credentials
Hi,
I'm trying to join a server as an AD member but it isn't working.
I do:
kinit ADMINISTRATOR@DOMAIN1.CO.UK
which prompts for the password and displays nothing else. Then I do:
net ads join -U Administrator%XXXXX
which returns:
Using short domain name -- DOMAIN1
Joined 'SERVER1' to realm 'DOMAIN1.CO.UK'
So all looks OK, but when I try to browse the shares on

mount shares with path
I need to mount a share I don't have direct access to only to one subdirectory.
I have no problems mounting other shares on the same windows server with
the same permissions.
I can mount the volume through gnome "Connect to Server...", but I need it
on the filesystem.
What is working:
smbmount //server1/share1 /mnt -o -fstype=cifs -noperm,credentials=/etc/auto.smb.server1

Samba and Window 2003
I am trying to find a good how-to on setting up samba to use Windows 2003
for authentication, if anyone knows of a good link let me know. I am using
RedHat ES 3 and our Windows is running in native mode with NT style
authentication allowed. I cant use ADS and Kerberos because the current
version of Kerberos on my RH server is 1.2.7 and from what I have read I
need 1.3+ in order for it to work

Getting a list of users in a group - how?
Hi all,
Hopefully this is a simple one - I'm trying to work out how to get a
list of users in a certain group. If I have the following set up in
Active Directory:
Group1
- UserA
- UserB
Group2
- UserC
- UserD
AllGroups
- Group1
- Group2
- UserX
Then I want to be able to say "List all users in the AllGroups group"
and I should get UserA,B,C,D and UserX

Rsync: Directories become Symbolic Links
Hi all,
I have rsync'ed directory /rootdir/dirdir/ from Server1 to Server2, using cmd on Server2 "rsync
Server1:/rootdir/dirdir -avz /rootdir/dirdir". There were some sub-directories from Server1 got
updated to become the symbolic links. For example, directory /rootdir/dirdir/subdir1/ now becomes
the symbolic link /rootdir/dirdir/subdir1 pointing to the new created directory

Samba installation discrepancies
Samba colleagues,
I promise to limit my postings to this list to one message per day from now
on, and to keep my messages focussed on very specific technical issues. I
think I have gotten over my initial panic at the weirdly broken Samba
installation and am now in a troubleshooting mode.
The drama of all my Samba 3 difficulties now seems to be due to a faulty
Samba installation. Symptoms

How can i divide my puppet.conf file in multiple files ?
I would like to have the [main] and [agent] section in puppet.conf and

Hi there:
As I posted a few days ago I have problems rsyncing two machines. I will add more logs to this e-mail hoping someone could help me.
I'm doing a daily backup calling a shell script from cron as root.

libvirtd does not update VM .xml configuration on filesystem after virsh blockcommit
Hi,
Recently We've upgraded some KVM hosts from Fedora 29 to Fedora 30 and
now experience broken VM configurations on filesystem after virsh blockcommit.
Commands "virsh dumpxml ..." and "virsh dumpxml --inactive ..." is showing diffrent configuration than the one on filesystem.
In case of restart libvirtd or system reboot, there are broken VM xml configurations on

winbind problem
Dear all,
I'm trying to make winbindd working without much success.
I would like to set my linux box as a samba PDC and as winbindd host with
some win2k workstations.
I'm using mdk 8.1 and have installed the corresponding rpms (samba-2.2.2-6
by cooker).
I followed howto and samba doc to set the pdc and it works.
Following winbindd doc I have to used "smbpasswd -L -j IUTINFO -U

SAMBA PROBLEM ON LINUX
Guys,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but I am using
Redhat 6.2 Linux and Samba 2.2.1a. We have Windows NT Workstations and 2000
servers with which we need to talk to. (Note: Can't upgrade to Redhat 7.2
or Samba 2.2.2 due to company requirements at least for a few more months.)
I have a problem with a user who is trying to write to a folder called

Samba SSSD Integration
Was hoping for a helping hand. Trying to set up Samba on a domain member server. The member server was previously joined to the kerberized domain using realm join and a system keytab file exists in the /etc.
Subsequently I added samba along with winbind not being entirely sure if the latter was needed. This is a Redhat 7.4 server. My smb.conf appears as follows.

samba 3.0.7 and os/2
Hello,
samba v3.0.7 on suse linux v9.1
os/2 v4.x
I have started the process of replacing our os/2 hosts with linux,
starting with the server(s). Most of the problems have been firewall
related, a topic only briefly discussed in the docs (nudge).
Some of the hosts can now interact with the linux samba shares; not all
though. I have run ip traces and have gotten to a point that is a

tinc1.0pre3
I gave tinc1.0pre3 a test after the modifications you have done today.
It insists that it is still 1.0pre2 but this is due to the fact the you
used "1" as tag for configure.in rather than "CABAL".
Anyway - results were not much more successful than yesterday:

Replacing directories with symbolic links
Hello,
I'm backing up a file server using rsync from a cron job, which recently
started to give me errors like:
delete_file: rmdir "/some/path" failed: Directory not empty
symlink "/some/path" -> "/some/other/path" failed: File exists
Looking at the involved files and directories, it looks like the user
decided to replace a directory with a symlink, but
