Linux 2.4.29 w/ acl, joining domain, all system memory used up?!
I have Gentoo with 2.4.29 kernel installed on a 1.0Ghz Celeron. I
patched the kernel for extended attributes and acl support. I compiled
samba with acl, kerberos and ldap support. I am now trying to join my
Windows 2000 domain.

icecast + liveice won't play nicely
I have gotten icecast and live ice both up and
running, but I cannot get them to play nicely
together. I have the following in my configs:

but when I run both of them using:
./icecast
./liveice

Michael, I think you are right. However, I cannot
successfully download and install icecast from
icecast.org. When I do so, gzip complains:

Is the distro corrupt? or am I missing something?
Is there a way to generate the crypted passwords? I

3.6.0 winbind issues
Testing 3.6.0 on a member server of a 3.5.8 domain shows some strange problems.
With the standard:
idmap config * : backend = tdb
no results are returned by getent, and wbinfo does not always
work, also no winbind_idmap.tdb file is ever created.
by changing to:
idmap config * : backend = rid
or
idmap config * : backend = hash
results are obtained but are the same regardless of

winbind_idmap.tdb not being updated
A few days ago I upgraded from 3.0.2 to 3.0.9, and since the upgrade, the
winbindd_idmap.tdb has not ever been modified, even after several restarts
of samba, and reboots of the system in question. It appears that the UID
mapping is still correct on the samba server, but I am just concerned that
new user additions etc are not being stored to the tdb files.
winbind_cache.tdb is being updated with

I had followed this
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samba_4_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
I provisioned by issuing this command :
samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive --use-xattrs=yes
It seems that windows domain controller has no password users such as guest

I believe both mailing lists are great but there are so may postings that
many issues get missed. There are some bugs that hand never been resolved
because developers are unaware of it. I just setup forum for xen users at
