Samba and Windows ACL Issue
Hi all got a bit of and odd problem with ACL. Ive read up on a few bits in
the samba howto and read some threads on here about it.
Im not sure if this is a bug, something ive not done, doing wrong etc so
anyone that could shed some light on it that would be great.
Basically the windows box handles all user account processing and during
creating a script for all this it will attempt to change the

some cannot join domain
Hi,
I have some machines (winXP and win2k) that cannot join my domain. Others
I have joined to the domain. I am using the smbldap-tools 0.8.9 with an
add machine script as follows:
add machine script = /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w "%u"
The LDAP entity gets created with objectClasses top, inetOrgPerson, and
posixAccount. My impression is that samba then comes

Storing GPC and GPT
Is possible to store the Group Policy Container (GPC) on a OpenLDAP?
Is possible to store the Group Policy Template (GPT) on a Samba share?
The idea is to manage windows desktop policies using the new Win200x
GPOs without using an Active Directory.
Any other hints?
Thanks

AD UID association
Hi,
I'm planning a migration from a Microsoft Exchange Server to Linux+Sendmail+Samba. There are thousands of users in AD that should login via POP3 to receive their messages. It's working perfectly but I'll have to login each user so winbind could create UID association for each one of them (actually I'm doing it with wbinfo -a user%password). Of course I'll try

Shorewall FAQ Wiki Online, nearly complete...
Hello,
Mike Noyes and myself have populated http://wiki.rettc.com with the
shorewall FAQ.
This wiki is running MediaWiki, http://www.mediawiki.org.
Currently, a couple items are not complete.
I have just begun a heavy semester of mathematics/physics studies, and
do not have much time to give to this.
But, it is online, and seems to be stable. I will keep an eye out for

Best CPU config for dual-Xeon?
I have some beefy dual-Xeon servers that I will be using for Asterisk
VoIP applications (i.e. no Zaptel cards). Using 2.6.11-1.14_FC3smp
as the kernel (Fedora Core 3), and currently with Asterisk STABLE.
My question is concerning the CPU setup, as I've seen conflicting or
out-of-date suggestions: given the above config, should I have
hyper-threading turned on or off? Turned on appears like 4

Attempt #2 :Interdomain Trust
Dear All,
I have posted the following "HELP" recently, and seems like no response
afterwards. Anyway, I try to make it short again here:

Could not connect to server "DomainA-PDC"

Centos4 and Typo3
Hello,
Does anybody use Centos4 and Typo3 as web portal?
For all functionalities (graphic) of the portal Image Magick and GD Library
must be installed. Are these packets already included in any packet of
php... or not?
If the answer is not, where can I found these two packets compiled for
Centos? Or is there any other solution ? I'dont like to compile these
packets, since I have to maintain

what happened to smbclient?
I noticed lots of smbclient options are missing in Samba 3.0.14a when
compared to 3.0.13 - notably, all user/authentication options - so I can't
connect now as a specified user anymore.
Is it just my build, or is it "official"?
Samba 3.0.14a:
# smbclient --usage
Usage: [-?] [-?|--help] [--usage] [-R|--name-resolve NAME-RESOLVE-ORDER]

Ast.1.0.9 (only) strange problem with IAX and DDNS
Asterisk 1.0.9: IAX2 registration timeout!

They are on private network and connected via IAX2 through

I know that Asterisk is not very smart on handling

Roaming user profile
Hi all:
If I enable domain logon,
my client (Englisht win2000server and Traditional Chinese winxp Pro.)
will always save profile to the samba server.
How can I disable saving the user profile to the samba server
if domain login is enabled?
Even when I disable the logon path and [profiles] service in smb.conf
,the profile will also saved to user's home directory also.

ACl issue with 3.014
Hi,
We had Samba v 3.011 installed on Solaris 2.8. We upgraded to v3.014
and ran into the ACL issue where users can edit their files from Windows
XP, but cannot delete or rename them.
Is there a new parameter for this, or is it a known bug? If it is a
bug, does 3.014a fix it?
Thanks,

choosing an appropriate linear model
I am trying to model the observed leaching of wood preservative chemicals
from treated wood during an outdoor experiment where leaching is caused by
rainfall events. For each rainfall event, the amount of rainfall was
recorded as well as the amount of preservative chemical leached. A number
of climatic variables were measured, but the most important is the amount of
rainfall.

RECYCLER and recycler bin
Hello,
I have recognized a pretty annoying thing with my Samba-Server:
My smb.conf is set, that deletet files go into the dir
".Papierkorb". It works well one one Client, but when the user deletes Files on the other client, a dir called "RECYCLER" appears with the file and some .ini files in it. Is there a way to solve this?
Both clients are WinXP, I'm using Samba

Tiger, Samba, and ADS
Trying to get Samba working with Active Directory and ACL's on an OS X

finally recompile version 3.014 with ACL's on the server. Now we are
stuck trying to get AD integration to work. Ideally, we would like it

I appologize for the length of this email in advance. I hope someone can
