Samba (2.2.8a or 3.0.2a) + WinXP not updating roaming profiles on logout
I have a linux box running samba configured as my PDC with roaming profiles. Everything was running great until I upgraded to WinXP instead of Win2K. Now, when I log out of my XP session, my profile doesn't get uploaded to the server. The local copy remains in effect until I reboot. When I log out, the following message gets sent to the event logger: [quote] Windows has detected that

I can now login to my domain from an XP Pro client, as a normal user. Only problem is, I get this: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem

Samba PDC
Does Samba3 require windows machine accounts? I need to have users authenticate to a Samba PDC and be able to run logon scripts when authenticated, BUT NOT have to have machine accounts for every user be setup. In other words, can the user authenticate without his/her machine being part of the Domain? Thanks, Rich

Then save the swat config and started the smb server. Gosh be Good! It worked just fine. But... I stared noticing entries like these in the logs:

Authenticating another domain
When I attempt to authenticate a user from another domain, I am seeing some strange issues. My winbindd.log shows that I am indeed already trusting the other domain. (I am a member of the na.uis.unisys.com domain.) However, when I try to gain access to a share where the username EU\INBLR-AUTH1 has access, I get prompted for a username and password over and over. Obviously, it can't
