Samba as a PDC with LDAP and Kerberos
I'm a little confused on one section here... Where are your passwords being
stored? kerberos? If so, how does samba look there? What is the
significance of the {SASL}USER at REALM in LDAP? Is there another password
store that you are syncing with krb?
Sorry for my ignorance here but after hours and hours of trying different
things, I'm unable to use my kerberos backend with samba.

timeout (?) w/ winbindd auth in samba 3.0.23c
Hi everybody,
I'm using a FreeBSD 6.1 box running Samba-3.0.23c_2,1 from the ports
tree, authentification is provided by two MS PDC (kdc1 and kdc2, the
domain is called PARIS).
Previous versions of Samba (<3.0.23c) used to work perfectly but since I
upgraded to 3.0.23c, I have very disturbing timeouts problems affecting
winbind.

Hmm, this works fine for me against a Samba 4.4.2 Btrfs backed Samba

Member server only shares locally
Hello
In 2 different subnets I have setup 2 identical samba servers (RH 6.5) as
fileservers for windows clients. Each is a member of it's own AD Domain
(Windows 2003 Servers).
The problem: one of them only is accessible and sharing locally.
On the windows-client, trying to mount a share gives this error:
C:\Users\testuser>net use y: \\samba_server\topfolder /user:testuser

WinXP cant connect Samba_Server which can connect WinXP for files sharing
Hi All Folks.
I encountered following problem
WinXP can't connect Samba_Server but Samba_Server can connect WinXP for
files sharing
WinXP box and Samba_Server are connected directly via a crossover cable as
experiment. Firewall of WinXP is off and ipchains on Samba_Server also off.

I just wish to ensure that my conclusion respecting Samba, FreeBSD Jails, and
NTP is correct.
1. Unless configured otherwise Windows domain clients will query and obtain
their time from the samba_server DC.
2. Samba_server obtains its time from the OS, in this case a FreeBSD Jail.
3. FreeBSD Jails get their time from their host.

Samba+LDAP Groups resolving problem
Hi,
I have managed to configure Samba+LDAP+smbldap-tools. Everything works
fine, except one strange problem is appearing.
When I connect with Windows tool UserManagerForDomains or I want to create
a share on a Wndows box I can see the users but no groups.
With UserManagerForDomains is see following:

LDAP backend and sambaGroupType for builtin groups
Hi,
I have a question about sambaGroupType attribute on a Samba 3.2 PDC
with LDAP backend (and nss_ldap + nss_winbind).
What should be the value for Administrators builtin group ?
If i use smbldap-populate from smbldap-tools, the value of
sambaGroupType is 5 (and the LDAP entry for this group is a posixGroup
and a sambaGroupMapping).
I've also noticed that "wbinfo -g" doesn't

Somehow, I find that CPU is running high in % with server slowing down and
winbind users not resolving properly to username from GID. I notice that a

Problem with public shares
Hello!
I'm running Samba 3.0.0 with Openldap 2.1.22.
Samba is my PDC and I'm using ldapsam as backend. Nearly everythings
works, but I have a public share [tmp] which should be accessible
without authentication from all clients even if they are no domain
members. I think, my share definition is o.k. in smb.conf but if I

Samba 3 PDC with ldapsam and login problem
Hi,
<foreword>
I am about to set up Samba 3.0.14a on Linux as PDC wit LDAP backend for
our faculty. However, first tries have only partly been successful.
First I added samba LDAP-Schema attributes to existing account, created
their Samba passwords with smbpasswd and it worked so that normal users
could log in via the windows network neighborhood and use the shares.
But, I couldn't
