File size limitation?
When I run backup and send the output to a file on the server,
I get a file limitation of 2g. When I do the same backup to
a snap server, there is no problem.
Is there a size limitation for a single file?
Thanks,

Does 3.0 work with w2k sp3 and/or win 2003? Anybody had success?
I can't make it work although both sign&seal and restrictanonymous are set to
0.
My setup is: w2k sp2 as PDC, w2k sp3 as client, samba 3.0a21 joined into the
PDC domain as an ADS member. The scenario is, from the w2k sp3 client,
connect to a share hosted by samba, create a file, then use
property->security->add tab to add an ACE, then the browsing user/group

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled
successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only
programs I supplied where db and libiconv.
I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security,
and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg.
When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11:

Documentation error?
Hi,
I am setting up a fileserver in an AD domain, using Samba 3.0.21b under Solaris 9. An Openldap server (version 2.3.17) is used fot the idmap backend.
Following the Samba HOWTO Collection, chapter 6, I used the statement
ldap idmap suffix = ou=idmap,dc=uppsala,dc=se
in my smb.conf. This doesn't work. When starting winbindd I get the following in the log:

Problem with Samba-3.0.25rc3 & idmap_ldap (winbind dumps core)
In an effort to improve my lot, I'm trying to move to a ldap backend
for idmap synchronization when I deploy the new 3.0.25 version on my
systems. In preparation for this, I've set up some test systems --
where I'm having some problems that I think others may be
encountering (according to a few comments I've seen recently).
In a nutshell, I believe I have set up my ldap

Troubles setting up winbind for nt4 style samba domain
I'm getting these errors on starting up winbindd, and I am not sure if this
is normal in my situation, I have no trust accounts, I don't deal in AD
domains. Can somone tell me if I need to worry about this?:

Hi all
I am trying to run samba-3.0.28 on a solaris 10 sparc machine, as a

I compile samba with:

CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/csw/include" ./configure --prefix=/opt/samba

IDMAP LDAP problems
Hi,
I running samba-3.0.13-1 on RH9
(openldap-2.0.27-8,krb5-1.2.7-10,nss_ldap-202-5) and configured as show
below, my intention is only to make IDMAP storage in LDAP using winbind.
I've looked on SAMBA3 by example book and relatives official guide on the
site.
First I have try to run samba and winbind retriving users and groups from
ADS and storing them in winbindd_idmap.tdb and

Setting up PDC w/ LDAP
I've almost got it. I swear I've almost got it (and I've been doing a
lot of swearing lately).
I re-built my PDC, starting from scratch. I'm not using the editposix
extensions anymore - I'm using the smbldap tools as shown (I think) in
the Samba by Example.
I really really thought I did everything right. Obviously I was wrong.
What works - all my workstations and

Idmap back compatible issue
I ran into a problem on idmap backend.
In previous Samba releases, there are two kinds of scenarios on idmap
backend.
1) No explicit idmap backend option presented in smb.conf. But imply
using default tdb idmap backend
idmap uid = low - high
idmap gid = low - high
2) idmap backend option exists in smb.conf

idmap LDAP backend
I'm trying to use the LDAP backend for the idmap database but I just
can't seem to get it to work. There really is rather pathetic
documentation out there on how to implement this. I've basically got my
ldap server setup with an OU called smb and another OU under it called
idmap. Here is my smb.conf file:
