changing server role = standalone server to 'member server'
I am testing a Samba v4.1.3 instance on Ubuntu 14.04 prerelease. I set it up as a standalone server on a test network, and it was easy to set up and worked fine. Now I am trying to migrate it to a different network and join it to a Windows 2008 AD server. When I try to join it to the domain, I get this error: root at samba-4:/etc/samba# net ads join -U administrator Host is not configured as a

FC4, Samba 3.0.14-2, Windows 2K: cannot access home directory
What might be the possible causes of an smbclient NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME error? smbclient generates this error when I attempt to connect to my [homes] share from a Mandrake Linux 10.1 (Samba 3.0.7) box to my Fedora Core 4 box (Samba 3.0.14a-2). Similarly, my Windows 2000 machine complains that folder "\\Fedora\derek is not accessible. The network name cannot be found." I can

Samba Devs, Very strange error - smb fails to start on Archlinux after upgrade from 4.8.5 -> 4.9.2 on a simple standalone server. Samba Share : Connection refused
Hi Rowland, thanks for your fast reply. Maybe there was a problem on format in the email as testparm works fine on my server. But I also did not write about distribution and version, sorry. This conf is given by Yast tool from SuSE LEAP 42.2 by default. I just added the few parameters I need. So maybe I should clean out a bit - I still do not need any domain settings. But does this the trick? br

Samba Standalone Server LDAP Issue
Hello List, i have a Samba Problem that is related to Sambas ldap behaviour. Problem: The standalone server ( no DC !!) tries to write an attribute to an write only ldap Slave is sent via WAN to the master write ldap. The problem results from the fact that samba never goes back to the "local" slave ldap to the "local" slave ldap so each samba request goes over an
