poppassd and pam_winbind.so
I thought that I would post this and see what others think. I wanted a way to authenticate mail users with pass through auth to a win2k box, so I don't have to add accounts on our mail server, just the 2k box. But the problem is a way for them to change their password off-site. So I've been trying to get poppassd (1.8.4 - current) to work with the pam_winbind.so module with very limited

quick poppassd question
Hello, I did a quick change to the patched port of poppassd and am wondering if you think my code would introduce any potential problems. The idea is right after we check if the username exists, also check if the UID of that username is over 1000. I wanted to make sure that no one monkeys around with priveleged users once poppassd is running. So, the middle chunk of code is mine, everything

Background call forwarding?
What I'm looking to achieve: Incoming calls to me extension will ring for 15 seconds. After that, I want the calls to forward to my cell phone and attempt to get through for another 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, I would like Asterisk to timeout the call, and goto my Asterisk voicemail. I've got the call forwarding down, but I'm using Nextel for cellular service, which loves give

Large number of prefixes in a route to a trunk
We're beginning to test MultiTech's CallFinder CDMA Units, one for Sprint PCS and one for Alltel. They sell both. Our intent is to use them as a backup line for our main office (which has a PRI) and a backup/911 line for our remote offices which are all connected via * over a VPN with no local trunks at any of them. In the interest of maximizing use of the lines, I'm putting

Touch tone recognition issues
I'm experiencing touch tone recognition issues when calling some outside phone systems. For instance, if I call my Nextel phone, and try to press * to enter my voicemail, Nextel's system does not "hear" the DTMF tone. I've also experienced other outside phone systems for which I am unable to use their touch tone menus. Oddly, this isn't the case with all outside systems.

Bandwith vsatl - not static
I have a existencial problem. There are some provider that offer the service of bandwith asimetric as download/upload link as for example 512/256. but most of them offer not exclusive this amount of transmission or reception capacity. They usually offer the service with more users as a ratio of 1/10. How I can design a appropriate diagrama with htb where the amount of bandwith could vary.?

Nextel phone and mute on Asterisk?
Hello, I have a really irritating issue that I haven't had time to investigate much - I hope someone has encountered it and can tell me a solution. I didn't see anything in searching archives / sites.. When my Nextel i90c phone gets a page (2 way text message via the internet option) it has an irritating tone to get me to hear it. However this tone seems to mute asterisk (reproducible).

Cisco Config
Is anyone here familiar with configuring Cisco routers? I have a Cisco 3620 with 3x WIC-1DSU-T1, 1x 2FE-2W, and 1x 1E-2W. I have 2 T1 lines being brought in by ACD.NET, a local CLEC. Within the next 3 months we will be getting another line from them, as our bandwidth needs grow. I am new to cisco and need help configuring this router. I am currently on a 1M DSL line with them. The DSL modem is

Any dialing tricks...
Alright, I am basically cheap, and I have a cellular plan which allows for free incoming calls (Nextel). I was wondering if there was any way to do sort of a dialback trick in the extensions.conf. I call into the system from my cell phone (maybe via DISA), I dial an internal extension, and dial a phone number. Then * sends to my cellphone the number dialed thus giving me a in call on the cell. Or

RDNIS
I'm trying to use RDNIS with asterisk, and I don't appear to be receiving any information (the value is blank). The upstream who provides the PRI says they are passing all the info through, I don't see this value coming across. I've tried it with a Verizon call forward, as well as a Nextel with the same results for both. I'm trying to use this for Voicemail. I'm using

Sprint Nextel sueing over VoIP patents
Sprint Nextel is sueing vonage, voiceglo and theglobe.com for infringing on VoIP patents. Sprint Nextel claims to have about 100 patents on VoIP technologies. Does anyone know which ones this article is talking about, and if so does asterisk have any of those features? The reason I am asking is that the article is vague, Vonage uses a fairly standard codec set, I dont know about the others.
