Safecom SIP-300 Information?
While recently discussing SIP phones with a friend, I was pointed to a
generic phone being sold in the UK as the 'Ebuyer SIP VOIP PHONE with
PSTN'
It appears to be a safecom sip 300 IP phone.
The safecom site appears to be down. Does anyone know any information
about this phone or where to look? a google doesn't reveal much.

WINS across two networks and a router
Hello, everybody. This one''s got me stumped. What I''m trying to do is have
two networks--192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0--with SMB and WINS running between
them. So far I can mount SMB shares allright, but I can''t browse by WINS
names across the router. I''ve posted this question on Linuxquestions.org;
you''ll find the details there.
Here are my

RE: the "cisco vs. Linux" thread
FYI this topic has been covered on the Zebra and Quagga lists
- hardware processors, memory, NICs, etc
- software OS (Linux, *BSD), drivers, etc
I''ve been running a couple of Linux routers for about 2 years now, I''m
using
them as core routers so I bought a couple of rackmount "server" boxes
with
redundant PSUs and h/w RAID (1) for hotswap disks.

Vendors for phones
I'm in the process of setting up a test/demonstration system to show that
VoIP is realistic and applicable for our needs. We put a 7905 and 7960 on
a request for quote that went out the other day (to people like CDW &
Microwarehouse). All of the vendors returned thier quotes without
including the Cisco phones. So my question: where do you buy your phones?
We can't buy direct from

Using metric scaling
I want to enter a symmetric matrix containing distances for use in the
cmdscale() metric scaling function. The matrix currently sits on a file in
lower triangular form looking like this:

Plexus 800VA UPS on ReadyNAS Duo
Hi
I Bought a cheap Plexus 800VA UPS from ebuyer :
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/240319 to use with my Netgear ReadyNAS duo.
Initial version of NUT was very old and NAS didn't detect it although in the
NAS log it said "UPS Disconnected". Syslog did send the following :
Jan 25 12:46:36 nas-27lfc kernel: usb 1-1: new low speed USB device using
uhci_hcd and address 2

modern motherboard for centos-5
I'm considering upgrading, and am trying to choose a modern motherboard
that nevertheless fully works with Centos5/RHEL5.
Though I'm partial to AMD processors, and would like to use one in my
new configuration, that's not a requirement, if the most appropriate
board happens to be intel-compatible.
However, given the way ASUS is dumping LInux and crawling more firmly

Getting a Plexus 500VA to work with NUT
Hi all,
First off thanks you for such a great tool - my searching so far
indicates that the developers and community behind nut are committed
and doing a great job!
Background: I've just purchased a Plexus 500VA UPS for ebuyer because
it was cheap. I didnt expect much but I've seen a few references to
people getting the same and similar models to work with NUT so was
encouraged to try!

SIP Inuse Count Wrong
I am currently using a copy of Asterisk checked out as the code of 10 days
ago from Asterisk and the:
sip show inuse
reports that I have 3 incoming connections to one of the Grandstream
phones, even though that isn't the case.
I believe I have tracked the problem down to the following error message,
which also (conveniently) showed up 3 times:
-- Got SIP response 481 ""

Joint confidence intervals for GLS models?
Dear All,
I would like to be able to estimate confidence intervals for a linear
combination of coefficients for a GLS model. I am familiar with John
Foxton's helpful paper on Time Series Regression and Generalised Least
Squares (GLS) and have learnt a bit about the gls function.
I have downloaded the gmodels package so I can use the estimable
function. The estimable function is very

Asterisk, Hylafax and T38Modem - help!
Hi All,
I know that this may not strictly be an asterisk issue, but if anyone has
any ideas on this prob it would be appreciated.
I have a working asterisk setup using Suse 9.1, a BT ISDN BRI card
(Fritz?), sipura 3000 and a few cisco 7940's. I wanted to do add faxing
into the equation, so I thought I would try and setup the following:
PSTN->asterisk->hylafax->pc

* and Fax
Hi,
I think this is one area that needs to be developed. I am curently
implementing a system for my home so cannot really justify the cost of
financially supporting the development of this when all I really need to
do is buy a telephone extension lead for my existing fax modem!!!
I am more than willing to devote some testing/documentation time (I am not
really a programmer) if that helps.

Mitel 5010 +5220
I know this is not strictly an asterisk issue but it is related I guess.
Just to let you know that after many calls to Mitel the consensus is that
they will be releasing a new version of the 5220 that is dual boot (minet
and SIP) next week or the week after. This firmware will only appear on
NEW phones manufactured after the release date (no one could confirm but
the 23rd of sept was

Authentication & Authorisation - Whats the common approach?
Hi,
Just wondering what the most popular approach is for authentication and
authorisation in a rails application that is deployed and fronted by
apache? Also when there are say a couple of rails apps being hosted.
Authentication

updating puppetlabs-firewall forge module to line up with whats in the github repo?
Hi there!
Is there a timeline on when the puppetlabs-firewall forge module will be updated (not necessarily to 1.0) ? the github version has the firewallchain type (as well as other nifty) that the forge version seems to be lacking, but it''s not clear from my perusing that the two are different. They both appear to be the same version superficially*…. The github version points to the
