Reinstall ruby''s MySQL Library on OS X Server
Hello,
I am running OS X Server version 10.4.6 and I already have some MySQL
databases working on the server. I install the RubyGem recently,
however, it does not work correctly with the default MySQL.
I am wondering if anybody can shed some light on:
1): how to reinstall ruby''s mysql library on the OS X server,
2): Is it possible to keep the old database files intact while

Some clarificatins of anova() and summary ()
I have two assignment problems...
I have written this small code for regression with two regressors .
n <- 50
x1 <- runif(n,1,10)
x2 <- x1 + rnorm(n,0,0.5)
plot(x1,x2) # x1 and x2 strongly correlated
cor(x1,x2)
y <- 3 + 0.5*x1 + 1.1*x2 + rnorm(n,0,2)
intact.lm <- lm(y ~ x1 + x2)
summary(intact.lm)
anova(intact.lm)
the questions are
1.The function summary() is convenient since

How bad is "rm -rf /" ?
Dear All,
Suppose I executed the command
rm -rf /
on my CentOS 7 box. After it did what it could, how much damage will be
done to what I have (or _had_ rather ;-) on my hard drive?
I'm going to describe simple experiment which was prompted in another
thread. I need to say a few words before I do it, however. First of all,
that other thread was about doing the same thing on UEFI machine.

simple plot in ggplot2, wrong error bars
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, simple problem.
I am essentially following the example on Hadley's webpage
(http://had.co.nz/ggplot2/geom_errorbar.html), but it still doesn't make any
sense to me.
df <- data.frame(trt = factor(c("intact", "intact", "removed", "removed")),
coon = c(0.093, 0.06, 0.057, 0.09), group =

Missing /usr/share/perl5 in C7
I'm under a bit of a crunch here, so any immediate help would be
appreciated. We kickstart our customer boxes and have started migrating
to CentOS 7. We're running Radiator 4.6 1 (I know, but bear with me)
and we just deployed our first radius box to a customer to be turned up
today. (I know, I know. I had no idea it wasn't being tested sooner than
this.)

Layer problem in DrawDensity3D (VecStatGraphs3D)
Hi,
When plotting the density estimation with DrawDensity3D-function (in
package VecStatGraphs3D) it often happens that the end product ie.
layers are not intact , see figure in the link:

Can we somehow effect on that an get intact layers?

What is my replication unit? Lmer for binary longitudinal data with blocks and two treaments.
First I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read it.Here is my
problem.
I am running a lmer analysis for binary longitudinal (repeated measures)
data.
Basically, I manipulated fruits and vegetation to two levels each(present
and absent) and I am trying to access how these factors affect mice foraging
behavior. The design consist of 12 plots, divided in 3 blocks. So each

Linux reinstallation without rebooting? Alternative to kickstart and other such tools?
Hi All.
I am curious if it is possible to reinstall linux distribution to centos
(or another distro) if I have a remote linux server with no kvm access (i
do not want to use virtualization). I know that for installation pxe,
tftpboot and kickstart or a proper iso/cd and kickstart are standard
options. But for such operations I would need kvm access. Are there any
alternatives which do not need

Can body() return a function's body intact, in order, and as characters ready for editing?
Is my understanding correct that the body()
function currently can't return a function's body
intact, in order, and as characters ready for
editing?
My testing and reading of body()'s help indicate
that it can not.
Here's what I'm seeing.
Consider pasting
1+
and a function containing
x^2
together to get
1+x^2
As you can see below, body() reports three

Strange issue with device-mapper lib in CentOS
Hello all,
a couple of weeks ago I've been installing CentOS 4.2 on a very-old
server machine with MSI server board based on Intel GX440 chipset, two
Xeons 500Mhz and one 1Gig of RAM. There is an AMI MegaRaid 467
installed as a storage controller, which causes some troubles with
installation, as stock CenOS4 install and production kernels doesn't
have older megaraid.ko module compiled,

Update wine?
It appears that it is recommended to uninstall previous version of Wine, in order to update (here: http://wiki.winehq.org/HowTo, first paragraph). When uninstalling previous versions of Wine, does the virtual C drive (and associated programs) remain intact?

Possible to install centos keeping folders intact?
Hiya all, just going to do a couple of quick conversions from redhat to
centos, an going to back up the folders anyway. But basically just wondering
if there's a way to install centos and keep some rather large folders intact
without having to backup/restore them. They are based from the root folder,
i.e /home but they aren't on a separate partition and want to do a total new
install from

Preventing deletion of folders under a SAMBA share
I am trying to set up a basic Samba server and configure it so that
folders under a share cannot be deleted accidentally by a user. The
ideal scenario would be to have the top-level folders under the share
non-deleteable, but folders and files are able to be created under it.
I cannot find any easy way of doing this directly, but thought that the
use of the 'veto' option would work

small plot inside a big plot
Dear R-helpers,
i want to draw a small plot (histogram) within a larger plot (simple scatterplot), so that the axes of the bigger plot remain intact.
I know how to use layout() and par(mfrow...) and such, but I want the smaller graph to be *inside* the bigger plot. Is this possible?
thanks,
Remko
