I'd like to thank everyone that has responded to my original email. I
have received information from several companies, and will be testing
several of them.
I also would like to update a statement from my original message to
clarify it:

Are package maintainers responsible for name-mangling class names?
The following came up when Roger Bivand and I discussed
R's name spaces and overlap in packages, in the bus to the
field trip during StatGIS, last Tuesday:
If two packages create the same class, say "variogram", and both
are loaded, then using a method for an object of class "variogram"
cannot discriminate between them and will call the method in the
package loaded last.

Shared libraries for use with R
I am moving my first steps in writing and compiling C code and calling
it from R. (I am also new to shared libraries...) My
problem is that my C code uses a C function contained in
another library (".a", not ".so" - is that the problem?).
This is how I compile the file with the functions I want to call from R:
cd /export/home/gpetris/
R SHLIB tryit.c

.conflicts.OK no longer working regardless of export(.conflicts.OK) due to "stoplist"
Hi,
in (at least) R v2.14.2 and R v2.15.0 alpha, '.conflicts.OK' is not
exported and hence to seen by library().
DETAILS:
In R-devel thread '[Rd] Suggestion: Not having to export .conflicts.OK
in name spaces' on Mar 17-22, 2010
[https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2010-March/057017.html] it was
discussed that one had to export '.conflicts.OK' in the namespace,

Lda does not query pgsql
Hi,
I don't know if it's a bug or my configuration fault, but LDA does not
work as i expect.
Dovecot auth connects to a pgsql database that mirrors Nis users infos,
but it has also quota settings because i'd like to use a per-user quota
environment.
Mailserver and Postfix authenticates users with Nis (through PAM), while

strange password problem
We have a samba3 domain with nt4, 2000 and xp workstation. We are
experiecing a strange problem when the user password expires. When a
user is forced to change the domain's password, he must re-insert the
email account (pop3 and imap) password in outlook. The mailboxes are on
a qmail+vpopmail server. This strange behaviour occours only with
windowsXp and office 2003. With windows2k and

Building R on Solaris with SUNperf
Dear All,
I am building R-1.3.1 on Solaris 2.7 and I am trying to use the native
SUNperf BLAS/LAPACK. I have added the flags ("-dalign
-xlic_lib=sunperf") for the compilers in the config.site file.
What is not clear to me is what I have to do with the "--with-blas"
flag for ./configure. It seems to me that omitting it is not enough.
Any suggestions?
Another question, I

Looking for C8 AMD help
I'm migrating from C7 to C8.? I'm currently using autofs, but alas
autofs has been dropped in C8 for the AMD automounter.
I have some very ancient knowledge of AMD, I used it when it was first
introduced many years ago on Solaris and moved to Sun's automounter when
it was introduced.
So now it's back to square one.
I used automount2amd to convert one of my existing maps,
