Help in "joining" Linux on AD domain.
Hello all! Is anybody there who can help me in the task of having my Linux-box joined our AD Windows 2000 Server? I'm using Fedora Core 1, I've installed samba and krb5-workstation and SWAT. I configured samba, but I would like to check it with some of you! In fact, I get following errors when trying to join: [root@boniforti root]# net ads join DOM-VCO -U Administrator Administrator

After successfull passwordless ssh login, unable to do rsync
Hello everybody. I got a strange problem, which I hope to solve with your help. I'm doing "remote backups" using rsync in an ssh tunnel. In the last setup I realized, something is driving me crazy and I can't find *what* the problem is. I managed to successfully login via ssh in a "passwordless" way (by means of RSA-keys). After this step is done and I'm logged

On which side these errors are?
Hello list. I've got following: rsync: opendir "client05" (in Profili) failed: Permission denied (13) rsync: delete_file: rmdir(client02/SendTo) failed: Permission denied (13) Am I correct if I say that the "opendir" is related to the source I'm trying to rsync, but the "delete_file" is related to the destination? Problems while transferring big files
Hello there, is it a known issue/problem with rsync transferring big files (let's say over 0,5 GB)? I'm using "rsync -rtz" to transfer over an SSH tunnel and I always get 12 Error in rsync protocol data stream Any suggestions on how to solve this? Maybe removing "z" compression could be helping? At this regard: how does compression work? When is it done? I mean, are

rsync on Debian Lenny exit codes
Hello list. I'm posting here although I'm actually running rsync from within rsnapshot, but the problem is really rsync-related. I've set up remote backups: remote client to backup from is Windows Server 2003 with sshd and rsyncd running, local server is Debian Linux (Lenny) with rsnapshot configured to use an ssh tunnel. My command line is this one: ssh -f

pop3_migration plugin
Hello, I'm trying to migrate from an old courier-IMAP server on which I made a plugin to access the individual mailboxes with a master password Emails are used in both POP3 and IMAP. I followed this guide https://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync In the log I find these messages, which are generated by the server independently without issuing the command "doveadm backup ..."

NFS vs Replication
Thank you all for replies!!! Some missing infos... - As load balancer I'm using a pair of keepalived with simple setup and not the DNS - Load balancer algorithm is "Weighted Least-Connection" - About 20 domains and 3000 email - I'm monitoring my backend servers with poolmon - The backend servers are virtual machine (vmware) with datastore on "all flash" storage based

Stir Shaken
I need to point out the this is factually misleading and materially false: "I think this, being the basis of your whole argument, is the fallacy. S/S is forcing people to take responsibility, for sure, but carriers won't just let their customers leave because they don't want to sign calls. It will force them to make sure they know who their customers are, and make it impossible for

NFS vs Replication
Hello list, I built an email system using a proxy / director pair (IMAP, POP3, LMTP) and a backend pair. To have an HA system, I would like to understand if it is better to use an NFS export or replication to save emails and index files NFS is provided by a NAS (in HA), while for replication I would use the local backend disks Which of the two systems is more reliable? Are there any drawbacks

PDC: client has "profile.pds" trouble
Hello list. I just installed and configured my first Samba-3 PDC and I succeeded immediately with the "join" operation with a Win2k SP4 client. As I afterwards rebooted and tried to logon with the domain user, both root and regular user, I got an error messagge telling me that it was unable to create \\servername\root\profile.pds. In fact, my /home/profiles directory remains empty (no
