I don't have an electronic copy, but I do have that issue of Biometrics

Help for Linear Discriminant Analysis
Dear colleague,
I'd like to compute linear discriminant analysis, using R. In the book Modern applied statistic with Splus (Venables & Ripley, p. 396), lda function is used. Could you tell me where I can find this function? At what site, can I download this library ?
Thank for your help.
Best Regards

Fixed parameters in an AR (or arima) model
Hello
I want to fit an AR model were two of the coefficients are fixed to zero
(the second and third ar-coefficients).
I used the "arima" function with the "fixed" argument but the ar3
coefficient is not set to zero:

Call:
arima(x = Y, order = c(4, 0, 0), xreg =

Backup - suggestions needed....
Linux RH 7.3, Samba 2.2.7a
NT 4.0 SP6 - Backup Exec 8.5
The linux box is running the Backup Exec client for Unix
('http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192093.htm')
Occasionally, when doing a backup the entire linux system freezes. I have
to do a hard reboot without a shutdown, etc.
There is 40 plus gigs on the backup, so I dont think a tar and copy would be
bery efficient.

Multiple incomming contexts
Hi list
I'm trying to implement sourcerouting on a distributed installation, but I
can't get contexts to work right.
My goal is to do a Dial(whatever@somecontext) and vary the somecontext based
on different criteria. This is going on over trunked IAX2 links.
How do I set up my IAX-accounts to manage this? I have tried to play around
with 'context' and 'peercontext' on

Smarter flac / samba VFS module possible?
I'm not sure Bery (the author) is subscribed here; he's probably
the best one to ask first.

SPAM: Get Rich NOW!!
Hello root@inet.hkg.com,
It looks like someone, at your end, is leaking SPAM into the Samba list.
The apparent source of this SPAM is <inet.hkg.com> which, unbelieveably, is
a real address. They are then relay-raping the Singapore Network to get it
into this list.
After careful deliberation, I have conciously decided to forward this one
message into the samba lists. All future SPAM

[LLVMdev] running clang format on the Mips target
Hi David,
I agree with you that it would be rude to simply clang-format the MIPS backend without coordination with any out-of-tree derivatives. To be honest, it hadn't occurred to me that there would be any such derivatives and the possibility wasn't raised in our internal discussion before we brought the subject up on this list. I'm keen to coordinate with such derivatives to

Smarter flac / samba VFS module possible?
Hi all -
Hope this isn't too OT - I've been playing with the file extention
mapper VFS module for samba (http://file-ext-map.sourceforge.net/) to
play flac files on my Audiotron. The above module takes any *.flac file
and presents it as a *.wav to the client, and decodes on the fly when
the file is read. It seems to work pretty well, but I often get the
first second or so of a song

HTB - Rate errors
Hi,
I''m trying to get HTB working correctly on Centos4 (RHEL-based) with
kernel 2.6.9-34.EL. I have two gigabit network interfaces bridged
together and I have created the following:
tc qdisc add dev eth2 root handle 1: htb default 1 r2q 8000
tc class add dev eth2 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100Mbit burst 24k
cburst 24k
(I have been trying different parameters).
The network is

Binding objects with a similar name
Dear R users,
The code below splits a dataset by "target_species" and then further splits
each target species group by year. Finally the sum of a variable called
"total_hook_num" is calculated and then assigned a name based on
(paste(a$target_species[1],a$year[1],sep="").
newsplit<-split(newdataset,list(newdataset$target_species))
for(i in newsplit){

Changes to user passwords are captured by a special DLL, which traps and
then stores the password changes in encrypted form in a private area.
On each synchronization schedule, the synchronization service first examines
the SAM file for changes, and then checks this private area for passwords
to be synchronized. Once
