R: local users in domain member security.
Hi Jerry, it works but I would like to ask you how can I translate the same situation for my ms dos client, maybe I have to insert workgroup = sambamachine instead of domain name? Practically they aren't domain users but localy users isn't it?Or I'm wrong? Thanks, Marco. > -----Messaggio originale----- > Da: Gerald (Jerry) Carter [SMTP:jerry@samba.org] > Inviato: marted? 1

ADS authentication.. almost works
Hello, Beta 3, ./configure --with-ads & krb5, slackware system (no PAM). Things seem to be correctly configured, done the net join part without errors, I can use e.g. smbclient -L or wbinfo -u, but users cannot acces shares on the Samba machine. Snip from the log (trying to connect from the domain controller on which I'm logged as administrator): [2003/07/28 14:52:27, 3]

Samba over leased line
We have two Class C nets (192.168.1.0/24) and 192.168.2.0/24). These nets are connected through a pair of router (BinTec) via ISDN. The router have a short hold mode, i.e. cancels the line if no packets are to be received or transmitted. Recently we installed one Samba Server in a subnet. In the other subnet are several clients, which print to the samba-server (via the ISDN link). We have not much

I've a strange problem with ACL settings, following the data structure.I would that user1 could read/write only his personal folder, user1 belongs to domain users and can reach the user folder but he can't see his personal folder. I have tried to run setfacl -b (remove all ACL entries) and setup them again, format

Attaching Samba to NT domain
Hi all. I am an NT specialist and quite new to Samba (and fairly to Linux). I am trying to set up an experimental Samba Server using Samba 2.03 on Mandrake 5.3 (basically an improved Red-Hat 5.2) and the default kernel 2.0.36. I followed the HowTos, using Swat in a manner I thought successful. Doesn't work. Have no Wins server, using DHCP (successful), caching DNS only (using ISP's for

Hi, By few months I have some troubles with a network dos application. Precisely application, randomly, get errors referring to access denied to any shared files or path not found and crash. I would ask you what kind of parameters I have to set in my "smb.conf" file (Samba v. 3.0.24), to make it more compatible with DOS 6.22. Many thanks. Marco. Marco Meli (IT Dept.) GKN SINTER

Can't find users from WinXP with Samba+ADS+ACL environment

I'm using "acl group control = yes" and changing the primary group owner of a directory to let users member of that group change ACLs settings. 2. From a Windows XP machine I

What happens is that all over a sudden Samba floods /var/log/messages and /var/log/warn with the following message (cropped out date/time/servername, etc.): smbd[19724]:

_____ I am having some issues getting my vista client to automatically reconnect to samba after a reboot. The client OS is Vista Business 64Bit SP1. The server is running on Ubuntu (latest version) and Samba 3.2.3. The symptoms are this. I browse to the server via \\name or \\IP_address. I then select a share, map network share to say z:/ It will usually prompt me for authentication just
