SMB signing broken? 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8
Hi all.
I originally suspected this problem was with netbios (which I have
disabled by default) and Jerry has helped me out a bit with but I've
been doing some more digging and I think the problem lies back further
than I expected.
I was trying to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 so I've recompiled all
versions back from 3.0.11 and the problem first occured in 3.0.8. The
issue is with

[PATCH] bug in 3.0.11 winbindd when 'disable netbios = yes'
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Heads up....
If anyone has had problems with winbindd not being able
to locate any domain controllers after upgrading to 3.0.11
*and* you have 'disable netbios = yes' in smb.conf, please
test this preliminary patch (winbind_find_dc.patch). It's
pretty rough currently but needs some more widespread
testing. You can download it from :

Samba samba-3.0.11 Upgrade Problems
I recently upgraded a backup fileserver used for testing purposes from
samba-3.0.10 to the current samba-3.0.11 using the FreeBSD portupgrade.
The fileserver is setup in a W2K AD. The fileserver uses Winbind to get
AD accounts and shares are created on the Samba server. Worked fine
until the upgrade.

Question about trusted domain list in samba-4.4.x
Hi list,
This is my domain enviroment and all DC are windows 2008r2
http://i.imgur.com/8cNOtm2.jpeg
When I used samba-4.0.5, I join my box to domain "HC1" , I got trusted
domain "CHILD2" in "wbinfo -m".

BUILTIN
MYBOX
HC1
CHILD1
TREEROOT
HC2
CHILD2
Then I upgraded my box to samba-4.4.4, I lost CHILD2 in "wbinfo -m".

lost trust with win2k -> win2003 upgrade
Hi all.
We are trying to migrate our domain controllers to win2003 and
for some reason, samba loses its trust relationship with the server
once the PDC has been upgraded.
I'm running Samba 2.2.11.
Normally, "wbinfo -t" returns "Secret is good.", but after the server
was upgraded to win2003, the trust was lost and it started saying
"Secret is bad."
The wierd

wbinfo -t fails with W2K3 ADS as PDC
Hello all,
I am attempting to set up Squid and have the authentication occur onto a
Windows 2003 ADS server (enterprise edition- if it matters), hostname
W2003. I have followed instructions listed at:
http://itmanagers.net/Documents/File/walkthroughs/~Linux@Squid/Squid+and+Samba+3+-+Walkthrough.html
and have spent numerous hours(+15) attempting this.
However, I can't seem to get past the

auth problem: wbinfo works, smbclient doesn't
Hi guys,
I have a strange problem. I can authenticate a user with wbinfo from my domain
controller (security =3D ads), however when I try and map a share, the
authentication fails. i.e.
# wbinfo -a 'COAL+bcanglo%bcpass'
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication succeeded
# smbclient '\\xxxxxxx\timtest' -U 'COAL\bcanglo'

I'm still going round in circles trying to get winbindd authentication

I have what appears to be the same problem as:

Problem with pdbedit -e, Samba 3.0.11
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hey all,
Looking to upgrade from Samba 3.0.11 to HP CIFS/9000 2.03 (which is
basically a patched Samba 3.0.22) on HP-UX 11i. Looking at
simultaneously moving from smbpasswd as my passdb backed to tdbsam.
Looks pretty idiot proof, and I think I should have very little trouble.
However, here is one slight problem that I'm running into so far:

[PROBLEM] Samba > 3.0.11 and the xp-missing-files patch
I've such a strange observation:
For the 3.0.11 version (and below?) there is a patch named
xp-missing-files.patch, which I've got from a Debian distro (but as I
understand, it's not the Debian's one - it's some Samba's internal
work). And that Samba whith this patch is ok - XP sees all the files
exported by Samba.
Then, since 3.0.12, there no more this patch - as it

3.0.11 <-> print driver with extensions (for ex Xerox-Phaser7700)
Hi Jerry et al,
I upgraded a while ago and everything looks fine at the first glance ;-)
Though I discovered a huge problem with drivers that have some extended
features/cards like the Xerox-Phaser7700. The driver installs just fine on
the server but the extensions are not visible afterwards. Far more
annoying: Clients can not install the driver, they get the 'no driver on
server for queue

3.0.11 strstr_m test failed on Solaris 9
I'm using gcc 3.4.1 on Solaris 9.
A make check produced the following output after compiling 3.0.11...
Anyone have suggestions on what to do to fix it, or should I just ignore it?

Samba 3.0.11 on Red Hat RHAS3
To answer my own question of a week or so ago, as to whether RHAS3 users
had got 3.0.11 to compile and execute (I had a plethora of errors):
The Red Hat 3.0.11 SRPM from the Samba site compiled cleanly and runs fine
(daemons and utilities) on my RHAS3 test rig, and on a RHAS3 update 4
production NAS server doubling as a Samba 3 server with 1150+ users of
Unix/Linux and soon PDC Windows services.
