Error messages when trying to access a share
Hi everyone!
Does anybody know what each of the error messages "ERRinvnetname" and
"ERRbadpw" mean?
The first one I get when I type my password after each of the
following commands:
smbclient -L localhost -U fabio
//it only asks me for a password (I think it's to be my password)
smbclient -L localhost -N
//it doesn't ask a password. what/who is the username?

SCP client prints out "lost connection" error message occasionally
I am using the OpenSSH client (version 5.2p1) in a Linux box L to
interact with an embedded SSH server S. When carrying out a recursive
transfer from S to L by means of the scp command issued in L (S does
not support sftp) the client occasionally prints out a "lost
connection" error message at the very end of the transfer.
After some debugging I found out that the error message (as

connection problem to W2k DC
Hi,
we are using Samba 2.2.5 in a somewhat larger configuration: a big NFS file
server and a separate box acting as a NFS/SMB gateway. Usually there are
about 200-250 connected clients. The box is a Sun Netra T1 AC200 with
Solaris 8.
Sometimes we get the following (loglevel 1):
[2002/07/01 11:48:50, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(615)

Samba 3.6.1 malformed request: "OPTIONS / HTTP/1.1" message
Hi guys. Hope you're having great days.
I have cross compiled Samba 3.6.1 for my embedded linux device. It was
very tough considering I couldn't find a tutorial or something that
helps me. Not even on Samba site and its documentation.
Anyway I managed to compile it and I put compiled files into
/usr/local directory in the device like I was supposed to and modified
smb.conf and put it in

Authentication Error Message formats
I have been using UW's IMAP server and I am converting to Dovecot for
Maildir support.
When a user fails authentication, or a user does not exist, it appears
that the same message is used for these events.
Is there a way to indicate that the user does not exist (Invalid user),
and authentication Failure (Failed Password)?
Clearly these two failures indicate a different error in the system.

2003 Terminal Server profile storage problem (earlier message was incomplete - sorry)
Sorry - sent before completed.- my apologies for the dup.
I've got Samba set up with the homes share configured.
I've added the settings under the Terminal Services Profile tab of a test
user.
When I log in, the folder specified is created, but it doesn't receive any
data files until the user logs off.
In the NT event viewer, I see :

A Samba's very basic problem
Hi everyone!
I'm troubled in such a very simple problem I think.
I've setup a samba server (version 2.0.7) in a linux machine (distro
conectiva 6.0).
I've configured the global, homes and printers sections correctly, or
at least it seems to be. I've also added my other shared resources in
the smb.conf file.
Then when I start samba server, I can see the netbios name of my

rsync: error writing NNNN unbuffered bytes - exiting:Connection reset by peer -> NIC driver problem!
I was seeing rsync errors which caused my system installations to fail
repeatedly and absolutely. See the error I reported to this mailing
list back in June in the Forwarded Message below.
When I replaced my NIC cards (realtec chip, 8139too driver) with Linksys
cards (and Dec Tulip driver for linux) the problem ceased, rsync worked
like it should, and does so repeatedly.
My suggestion would be

Your smtp server isn't listening.
Is it running, and binding to 127.0.0.1?

Can you see the mails with neomutt?
If so, the error is on the roundcube side.

Printer Connection Problem
I have about 10 printers installed through cups (all working via test
page printing via cups webpage). Roughly half of these are experiencing
this problem with samba.
