Klicking sounds in background
Hello, I have an IVR with Intel HMP SIP stack, which is a peer behind my Asterisk box (Asterisk 1.0.7, Digium PRI). When dialing in via PSTN, there are klicking sounds in the background, which do not appear, when dialing in via SIP (using Asterisk as pbx). The issue does not seem to be an alaw/?law problem. I tried trunking two Asterisk boxes via IAX and then call via two asterisks, but the

Replicated LDAP
Hello, I would like to have a central LDAP-Server in my main office and a replicated one in my satellite office, connected via VPN. Then I want my SAMBA-PDC in the satellite to use the local LDAP. I think this should end in: READ ---- Samba <-> Replicate WRITE ----- Samba -> Replicate <-referrer- Samba <-> Central

Problem with domain membership
Hello, I have a Samba 3.0.11/LDAP-Backend PDC configured and I am able to join all kinds of machines quite well. SWAT and SuSE 8
Hi I am an absolute beginner and have just loaded SuSE v8 onto a new computer I have made sure that I chose Samba and samba-client amongst the software when I loaded up. Now, wanting to access swat, type http://localhost:901/ into my browser and get an error message. It seems that localhost:901 can't be found. Can anyone suggest what I may be doing wrong could be? Files to backup
Hi ppl, I have a question more then problem, if I'm going to reinstall my Linux box from scratch, what do I have to backup for the Samba to work, beside the smb.conf & smbpasswd? Are those files enough to save the configuration? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. "Only Dead Fish Go With The Flow"

syncing unix passwords
I give up. I had this working and now it isn't and I don't know why. I was able to sync unix password using smbpasswd but now it won't work. When I run smbpasswd it changes the samba password but acts like it doesn't even see the parameters in the smb.conf to change the unix password. Here is a sample changing session: as400:# ./smbpasswd xxxxxx New SMB password: Retype new

Ldapscripts v1.0 !
Hi all, I've been working on shell scripts that allow to manage ldap accounts (users, groups, machines). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but do not need PERL to work (and so on...) and are *very* simple to configure - they may be a good alternative. The only tools you need are standard ldap client commands (ldapadd, ldapdelete, ldapmodify, ldapsearch). The scripts can be used as

users files going read only (Douglas Sterner)
Thanks Alex, your suggestion along with some additonal tweaks helped solve my problem. Re: samba 3.0.23a Cannot join network
I had the same problem after upgrading to 3.0.23a. I have one samba PDC running a basic setup back to the smbpasswd file, and one that runs OpenLDAP. The former did exactly as yours, and I ended up rolling back to version 3.0.23. On the latter, the smb process refused to run, reporting that it could not contact the database. I ended up having to remove all the database files and reinstall

build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! affecting samba group mapping?
Hi, when using pdbedit -L <user> we get an error > build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username <user> with uid <uid> is not in unix passwd database! > Username not found! This is because a user is not - as it says - in e.g. /etc/passwd. Does this affect the functionality of group mappings in the way that this doesn't work with the mapped unixgroup

password reset on NT
Hello, I'd like to do the following: We have a NT domain, built as usually (PDC, BDC). Now we want to set passwords of normal NT user accounts - but from outside the windows world. Esp. we need a client on Unix (e.g. Solaris) which is able to set / reset NT passwords. This means: The NT administrator (or someone with administrative privileges in the NT domain) wants to set the NT password

Can lmer() fit a multilevel model embedded in a regression?
I would like to fit a hierarchical regression model from Witte et al. (1994; see reference below). It's a logistic regression of a health outcome on quntities of food intake; the linear predictor has the form, X*beta + W*gamma, where X is a matrix of consumption of 82 foods (i.e., the rows of X represent people in the study, the columns represent different foods, and X_ij is the amount of

smbpasswd database is corrupt!
I added myself into OpenLDAP and deleted my user account from /etc/passwd. Now samba complains in the log file: Jan 25 10:17:56 roark smbd[2767]: build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username awilliam with uid 511 is not in unix passwd database! however, I'm resolving my awilliam with nss_ldap, so I can ssh and su -l awilliam fine. so shouldn't samba be able to get
