Hosmer-Lemeshow 'goodness of fit'
I'm trying to do a Hosmer-Lemeshow 'goodness of fit' test on my logistic
regression model.
I found some code here:
http://sas-and-r.blogspot.com/2010/09/example-87-hosmer-and-lemeshow-goodness.html
The R code is above is a little complicated for me but I'm having trouble
with my answer:
Hosmer-Lemeshow: p=0.6163585
le Cessie and Houwelingen test (Design library): p=0.2843620

Transfer Problems when updated to version 3.0.5
To whom it may concern,
I'm having some issues writing large files to my samba share.
After about 11Gb it fails ( for the past three transfer attempts).
The Files are sized between 2Gb and 65gb respectively
I was getting Oplock errors so i disabled oplock but still have an issue.
Below is the output hopefully someone knows what i am doing wrong.
TIA

SuperServer 6024H-82R and Centos 3.3
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any familiarity with this
server? It uses the Super X6DH8-G2 motherboard. Currently, we've added an
Adaptec 2120S Ultra320 RAID PCI Controller Card to get RAID 5 capability. The
installation bombs and from what I can tell it looks like we're getting SCSI
resets or the controller is going offline maybe. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Question about YUM
Pardon my ignorance, but if I update or install a package via rpm will YUM
pick that up in subsequent updates? Or should I be using YUM for installs if I
plan to use it for updates?

Apache
Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I
want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q
apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to
S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running.
So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed?

Degradation model
Dear list,
I have a degradation model:
dX/dt = * I(X2)*( k1*X(t) )/( X(t)+k2 )
where X(t) is concentration at time t, and k1 and k2 are parameters
that I want to estimate. I(X) is a known inhibitor function.
My questions is whether this is implemented or easily computed in any
R package. I have searched the archives but without luck.
Any help or comments on this would be appreciated,
Klaus

3.0.7 CUPS Conflict?
First time I've seen this...
Trying to install Samba 3.0.7 from rpms obtained from the samba.org site on a
SuSE 8.2 system--very vanilla. Samba has not been installed previously on
this box at all.
outside:/home/data/Downloads/Samba-3.0.7/8.2 # rpm -Uvh libsmbclient3-3*
samba3-3* samba3-client* samba3-win* --test
file /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb from install of samba3-client-3.0.7-1

An Interesting Issue in Samba Performance
Okay Ive had a day of it today , and I thought I would share this little
support event experienced today.
A Client site of mine runs Samba 2.2.8a connecting to a series of
Windows XP boxes via a Netgear Switch/Hub.
Earlier in the week they reported that certain applications, most
notorously Symantec ACT were performing at super slow speeds.
A non site investigation showed that any file

RE : Samba as a PDC / Windows NT 4 SP6a as a BDC
Are you sure of that ? I thought it was possible...
If it is not, I've got another slightly off topic question : how to I demote my former Windows NT PDC (that is now a BDC) to a normal Windows NT server, so that I have no problem with it ?
Thanks in advance.

Backup Solutions based on Linux
I'm having particular issues running Veritas in my Windows environment. The
agent just seems to baulk on some servers. I've looked into backup solutions
running on Linux before but there doesn't seem to be much. Is anyone
familiar with something that has Windows agents and yet managed by Linux?

samba with vmware
Hi,
I just installed Red Hat 9 on a Dell Latitude D600
laptop. Then I installed VMware 4 and installed
Windows XP as the guest operating system. I want to
run Samba on the Red Hat 9 host to share files with
the Windows XP guest. Each OS individually is running
fine. I compiled Samba 3.0.2 on the Red Hat host, but
I can't start Samba. I try starting it with
"/usr/sbin/smbd -D",

And another....Webmin
Is anyone using Webmin with CentOS? I've always found it works very well with
RHat Linux. I've not used RHEL so I'm not sure. I know on my SuSE server it
doesn't seem to work well and suspect there are some location problems.

PHPBB+Centos
I'm having a hard time getting PHPBB installed on Centos. We get the error
that The PHP configuration on your server doesn't support the database type
that you chose. We choose MySQL 3.x but get that error. Perhaps PHP4 isn't
compatible with MySQL 3.23.58-1?

imap-login processes
First, thanks for this great product. We migrated from Courier last week
with only small bumps along the way. We have a few hundred active users
with a mix of pop3 and imap clients. The server is running on sparc
Solaris 9.
We're seeing a problem now with the number of "imap-login" processes
rising slowly to it's limit and then (understandably) not letting any more
logins

Samba 3 and network printing setup
I'm running a Debian Woody system with Samba 3.02 from backports.org.
What I'm trying to do is set up the Adobe Postscript Windows drivers to
a Epson printer I have with CUPS and Samba. I have no problem printing
through CUPS on the UNIX side, nor printing through Samba on the Windows
side as long as I manually install the drivers.
I want set the system up so that when a new Windows
