Time Zone names on Windows
Dear R-users, I tried to read recorded data into R, but confronted the problem about time zone. The data was recorded in GMT+1 (without summer time changing), and at first I tried to do in the way: data <- read.zoo("data.txt", header=FALSE, sep=",", format="%H:%M:%S %d.%m.%Y", strip.white=TRUE, tz="GMT+1", skip=3) However, it failed. Then, I found the

OT: SpamFiltering (used to be: ATTN: Keith)
Kind of spawns an interesting side topic though..... I recommend SpamHaus.org for a good blacklist.... Easy to integrate into most mail servers and you can't beat free... Non-member submission from [Keith Baker <ssh@par.dhs.org>] (fwd)
From: Keith Baker <ssh at par.dhs.org> To: openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org Subject: Password Login Failing... I am attmepting to install ssh/sshd on my RH6.1 Intel Box. Everything seems to be working (not quite smooth sailing - I had to resort to precompiled RPM for OpenSSL). I did however get it "working." I generated a host key as root and then changed back to joe-user. I

Where is the Centos Linux 5.5 kernel syscall handler for mmap? (Keith Roberts)
Keith Roberts, Thank you for your suggestion about doing a grep of the source code. We found mmap.S in ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/i386. We looked in mmap.S and found a lot of assembly code. Could you please tell us if any of the assembly code call the kernel syscall handler for mmap.s? Also, we ran make for the kernel Makefile and we obtained the following result shown below. Could you please

Hi all, First of all I am running (SunOS 5.5.1 Generic May 1996). My questions are about the Makefile. (1) Line 145 - WHICH OPERATING SYSTEM? Problems with SMBCLIENT
Hi all, I am running SunOS 5.5.1 and am getting all sorts of problems. I am urgently in need of help. My Unix skills are limited. My first problem is starting the daemons. bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0 (Address already in use) My second problem is the difference in the number of files dumped with either smbtar or smbclient. Here is the command that gives me the most problems. Notice

Netware CIFS nlm - linux samba
Dear Gurus, We're having bizarre problems/behaviour. Admittedly we have an unusual set-up: - users on linux desktops (RedHat/KDE) mounting files over SMB using samba-2.2.5-10 -client and -common rpms. - files are on a SAN, clustered behind 2 netware servers (6.5), wihch run the cifs.nlm (netware guy has gone home - can't tell you the version just now) Files are spontaneously

Firewalling and Asterisk
Forgive my ignorance on this as I am still fairly new to Asterisk. I have noticed lately that there have been several attempts to hack our Asterisk server. I see multiple attempts to log in with a particular extension from the same IP address, perhaps hundreds of times per second. It causes the overhead to spike to ~100%. It is more of a pain in the ass than anything. So far what I have been

htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I''m getting the following error/warning at some point in my config script, and I''m not sure which class it is referring to. htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?! I [think I] understand that htb is a non-work-conserving qdisc, and I [think I] have configured things so that every htb qdisc I instantiate limits the bandwidth, so I don''t understand why this
