hi ke, **************************************************** Since you've compiled with default options, your smb.conf is located in /usr/local/lib/smb.conf . You should copy your working smb.conf for version 2.2.7 (/etc/samba/smb.conf) to /usr/local/lib. You should run ./testparm as well. *********************************** That's just what i did and the Result is the same! Is there a

Samba + Share Quota's
Hi Samba users. I have the following problem and I hope somebody can help me: I installed Samba on a White Box linux machine and used LDAP for authentication. I created a directory /work/shares. In /work/shares are all share directories created. The problem I'm having now is that the total capacity of each share is the same because they are on the same partition. (So /work/shares/test

AW: Re: AW: samba installation
you'll need to type './smbd -D' instead of 'smbd -D' if you're in the /usr/local/samba directory (same for nmbd -D and smbstatus). BTW, you need to type 'ps fax | grep smbd' and then 'kill -9 <process ID>', where <process ID> is listed in the 'ps fax | grep smbd' command. Same for nmbd. Also, make sure the smbd and nmbd daemons are not

Two questions
Hi All, I have the following questions: We have some folders / shares where we store for example only .doc files. But some users also saves the .jpg files in this share. We don't want this and we wondered if we can block saving .jpg files with samba. Is there an option to set in smb.conf so we can block the saving of .jpg files? Second one: Some users saves the .doc files for example as

Kernel-utils stupidities (readahead and cpuspeed)
Hi all, I think I've spotted a few stupidities (bugs) in the current version of kernel-utils (kernel-utils-2.4-13.1.80). I'm sure these are all propagated from upstream, but I hope someone could have a quick look to verify this and see if we either can push complaints upwards, or provide local fixes. The kernel-utils package provides several 'kernel-type' functions -

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - winbind breaks it again
okay, I started to look into winbind and the /etc/nsswitch.conf (and smb.conf)... and it wreaked havoc... I was using the guide at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server - right guide? the guide is talking about "samba member server that is part of an active directory" Is that correct? I mean, THE ad domain controller is member of the ad, but it sounds like

GUI administration for Samba+LDAP
I'm running a Samba Primary Domain Controller, with an LDAP backend. I'm currently using the smbldap-tools from IDEALX, and is searching for a GUI to manage the users instead. I've been looking at the IMC Samba-Console, also from IDEALX, but this doesn't have any rpm's for RHEL v4, and building of the source keeps getting errors. An rpm for RHEL or another GUNI would be most

Cannot build trunk
I apologize if this is a very dumb newbie issue, but I really want to experiment with the new "Story Runner" functionality in rspec and I''m having trouble using the trunk. I''ve tried in both windows and linux environments and have different problems on each. On linux, I execute svn co svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/trunk to check out the trunk. This completes

Monitoring filessytem access
When somebody is hammering on the system, I want to be able to detect who''s doing it, and hopefully even what they''re doing. I can''t seem to find any way to do that. Any suggestions? Everything I can find ... iostat, nfsstat, etc ... AFAIK, just show me performance statistics and so forth. I''m looking for something more granular. Either *who* the

Winbind problem with more details.
Everyone, One of our developers was kind enough to insert some bug checking into the mod_auth_pam and mod_auth_sys_group so that we could see a little more of what was going on with our authentication failures. Here is what we just saw. Two of our users NA\connelmp and NA\guminssa both started getting messages that they were not part of the required group. Here is the log for
