macro characters with pdbedit ?
Hi,
I would like to change the Logon script name attributes of a samba user account to something like logon%u.cmd using pdbedit with the --script option. It does not work because the string logon%u.cmd is litteraly taken as the value, loosing the variable substitution at evaluation time. pdbedit -v output gives "Logon Script : logon%u.cmd" .?
When creating a user account without

Hi Moray,
?
Thanks for your answer. It could help but only partially.
?
The script name logon%u.cmd was a bad example. Actually, a user can log on from WinXP , or Win 7 workstations, and I'like to run different logon scripts depending on the OS . So having logon script = logon%a.cmd in the smb.conf generally works thanks to variable substitution.
?
But for user accounts that have been

NT Browslist
I have a UNIX server, running SUNOS 5.5, that keeps dropping of the NT
brows list, in all other ways it is working normally. I have found that
the only way to bring it back is to reboot the UNIX server. Any ideas?

Large File Copy to Large ext3 RAID5 Array Often Stalls
I'm experiencing strange behavior from my ext3 RAID5 array and my Fedora Core 2 system. Before I go crazy varying all sorts of tuning parameters, I thought some list subscribers might provide me with useful advice.
The problematic array is:
3x Promise Technology Ultra 100 TX2 PCI cards
6x Maxtor 250GB IDE drives (one drive per cable)
RAID level 5, 128Kb chunk size, EXT3: "mkfs -t ext3

Failed logon with 3.0.11
Hi,
I just tried an upgrade from Samba 3.0.2a to 3.0.11 to fix a known bug (1147),
but now I get a different problem. Users cannot login.
Here's what the log looks like in 3.0.2a

More Broadvoice woes. Who's fault could this be?
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list for this (I was going
to send to Asterisk-Biz, but seems more for this one).
Anyway, I'm having more problems with Broadvoice. I still can't get
calls unless I comment out the secret= line in sip.conf, but now I
can't even place test calls to it from my cell phone. When I do, I
get a fax macine. Debugging SIP shows NO

Disk Space Error
I have a samba server (3.0.10) that was compiled and installed this
morning.
I'm seeing a strange problem that I haven't seen before with Samba.
No matter if I connect from my Linux laptop, or my WinXP desktop I
receive the error stating "Not Enough Free disk space" (From the windows
macine), and "cp: writing `public-share/gmp-4.1.4.tar.gz': No space left

I already installed rsync on both my server(running
FREEBSD 4.4) and
win98 macine. My LAN don't connect to the internet so
it is quite secure, is it possible if I don't use
OpenSSH?
when I run "rsync 172.22.0.104::", I get this
message:
"failed to cennect to 172.22.0.104 - Resource is

172.22.0.104 is the ip address of my server. It is

SpanDSP - Still can't send
I have googled until blie in the face, WiKi'd until physically exhausted
and searched through every Asterisk repository that I can find, all to
no avail...
No matter which version of SpanDSP I use, with which version of libtiff,
Asterisk, ... I simply cannot send faxes.
I can receive faxes *perfectly* (sending from standard fax macine on
POTS) into tiff file (via Digium analogue card),

Interested in helping Nouveau
Hi everyone,
I know there's a TODO page on the wiki, but it's kind of old (may),
and it doesn't really indicate priorities. So I thought I'd list my
skillset and interests here, and let those who are experienced with
nouveau development point me to a good place to start.
I'm currently running a P4 (presler) with a GeForce 6600. The family
gaming macine is being upgraded soon

I know that this question has been asked several times before but I haven't
been able to find an answer.
I'm running R on a P3 933 with 384 MB of RAM. The system is running Windows
XP Home.
I'm trying to read a 1054 row by 30303 column matrix from a tab delimited

Capturing Packets -- Ethereal
This may be off topic, but I think my ethereal question might be simple enough.
I am presently compiling ethereal on a CentOS platform to check it out.
But the packets I want to monitor are actually on a different CentOS platform, and I'd rather not install Ethereal on it, if for no other reason I don't have X-Windows installed on that platform.
My question is, can I monitor/write

OT: Canada's Primus introduces SIP localservice
I am sure Primus has a SIP platform because we have played with it. We
managed to use it on MSN's SIP phone as well as couple Zultys ZIP2x2
hard phones. Their PC-Phone app is also a SIP soft phone. If you are
registering to sip.iprimus.net then it is definitely their SIP platyform
not MGCP.

If you look at the specs on the Dlink box that Primus gives you, you will
see that it is SIP.

Preloading WINS registrations
I have a couple of Samba boxes, one of which is dedicated to WINS. The other I dole out anti-virus stuff to 3,500 odd PCs from.
This second one will disappear from the WINS server from time to time which is a bit of a pain. I use nmblookup -R -U <wins_ip> <2nd_box_ip> to test for it. All clients are configured as "P" nodes so WINS is a bit essential. To bring it back I

X-Lite Softphone
Hey Everyone,
I downloaded and installed the X-Lite softphone the other day (the lite
version) and cannot seem to get it to work well.
Don't get me wrong, it registers with my asterisk server and everything
seems to work well, except the call quality really is horrible.
I thought it may be the place I was trying it at (DSL) so I took it to
the office and tried it right next to the asterisk

I once ran into a quite similar problem, but solved it with a simple
kernel that ran on every machine and some initramfs magic with a
