Slow Printing from XP clients with SP2?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. >From an XP machine printing to a SAMBA printer, printing is painfully slow. Selecting the printer, and even sending the job through windows makes the app appear non-responsive. The print job is completed fine, but just takes a long time to print. XP boxes with SP1 print like a dream. I've managed to replicate this on 4 boxes

upgrading samba
Hello, I'm looking to upgrade my Samba from 3.0.4 to 3.0.7. Samba is my PDC currently. Are there any issues that I need to be aware of before I upgrade? Will I need to re-join the domain after the upgrade? Do Frontends need to care about alignment?
Meant to add more text, but somehow the email got sent. Could you explain why for some of these cases? If I set the right target and only want to operate with the system C ABI, will LLVM not generate correct code if I want to pay say structs to a system defined function? I see clang specifying alignment, but I'm not sure why. I want to understand beyond alignment and function ABI (which for

Can't use mount command with samba
I have a home network based on Win XP Pro, with one Linux machine running Red Hat 9. All updates have been applied. There's no domain controller. I can connect from the Linux machine to the XP machines via Konqueror using smb://mymachine/myshare However, I can't use the mount command. I'm trying to use syntax like mount -t smbfs -o username=myname, password=mypwd //192.168.0.1

sum(..., na.rm=TRUE) oddity
Hi all, I get two different results when using sum() and the switch na.rm. The result is correct when na.rm=FALSE. Linux Redhat 7.3, R version 1.6.1. I've had no luck searching the mail archives, so I was hoping somebody could explain/check this one for me. I will need to apply the function to missing data, simple as it is. Code: x<-matrix(runif(20,0,5)%/%1,4,5) # random matrix

Junk e-mail .... help needed!!!
Hi!! Of late, I'm getting a lot of un-solicited mails from this list, and inspite of un-subscribing mails, messages, threats , nothing really seems to work... My question: 1. Is there any way I can 'avoid' or 'bounce' incoming messages at the mail-server level?? 2. I cannot change my address (alias) as such... since this involves sending reminders to God knows how many

re: GUI's for teaching
Dear All, This is a question to sound out possibilities. I am with the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Western Australia, representing a few of the more statistically minded in the faculty. Essentially, there have been problems in the past with software support, changing over statistical software, and paying lots of money for it. In R you have an advanced

Domain problem with NT4 & Samba 3.0.2a
All, I really need some help. I'm putting samba up on a new windows domain called SIERRA. I'm using Samba 3.0.2a on Solaris 8. I'm barely knowledgeable on Windows NetBIOS... but am good with Solaris. The status is that I've got the daemons running and working normally. I have 1 desktop with 1 PDC & 1 BDC in the SIERRA domain. On the desktop, I can see both DC's but
