OT - Avantages of ISDN PtP and PtmP
Hi, Reading http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/bri.html , it seems PtP is the way to connect businesses but if you read http://public.swbell.net/ISDN/connect.html you would think the opposite. Can anyone elaborate a bit PtP or PtmP respective advantages ? Cheers -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Re: DSP stamp
Yes, the Theora codec is based on VP3, which is an earlier version of ON2's VP6 codec. Theora is currently at its alpha 3 release, and is stable enough to have been used already for streaming live video from a number of conferences, and for encoding several videos that can be found at www.theora.org. Development has progressed to the point that the value of the codec can be seen. That

Fwd: Re: [Olpc-open] XO review & Theora
As far as video playback is concerned, it seems to mostly come down to how the video is compressed - although Gnash (the open flash player) still has a ways to go to play flash media as well as the closed source flash players. For the Colingo activity and library, we've found it very difficult to find optimum settings for flash and instead have decided to go with Theora. We've managed to

Probs with wine/DirectX
So I got wine working.... sort of. I was never able to run 'wineinstall' b/c if i try to run it under my ordinary login, it halts at 'config' and says I don't have permission, but if I log in as root, I can change directories to the /usr/src/wine/tools and I can see 'wineinstall' and 'config' as executable files (I even chmod a+x them to be sure) but when at:

First time Wine--config problems
Okay, I'm not a programmer, but I'm not new to Unix either--used it years and years ago in college before Win 3.1 came out. So I'm pretty rusty, but it IS coming back.... Here's my problem. I'm using Wine-20010510 on SuSE Linux 7.1. Wine seemed to install fine, but every time I try to run it, it says the c:\windows and c:\windows\system directories are invalid. I've

Slowdown on lots of motion
I'm playing the "Honey" movie (both Honey-small and Honey-large) and I notice significant slowdown during periods of lots of motion (when the camera shakes, when the first man hops into bed, when people turn around and approach the camera, etc.). The audio plays smoothly all the time but when there is a lot of motion, the picture freezes and resumes when there's less motion.

xterm needs reset, no output
I have attempted to get wine functioning for several days but have been having no output recognizable as a windows program, rather the terminal acts much as though the output was that of a cat of a binary file and requires a reset to become useful again. I am running Slack 7.1 on 2.2.18 on a dual celeron machine using XFree86 4.0.2. All other programs are functioning normally. I have used

video codec comparisons
Reviewers who have published comparisons of video codecs recently tend not to publish their source video clip, nor encoded video clips.? It might help promote theora if there was a link we could provide to a nice source clip, only one or two minutes long with a mix of action and talking head spots, with several versions of it compressed in theora format; maybe 250 kbps, 500 kbps, 750 kbps, 1 mbps,

Samba and CUPS... Driving Me Psychotic
I have set up samba 2.2.2 (debian package 2.2.2-2, actually). Files are shared out (though Win98 doesnt like my valid users lines, a task for another day). However, it hits the fan when I try to share out my printer to my win2000 system (note: I can print from the server). Ive been through DIAGNOSIS.txt and the HOWTO collection, which didnt help, unless I missed something. Here are some relevant

Creating a PDC
I am working my way through "Samba-3 by Example". I have created all the simple samba servers with ease as I have done them in the past with trial and error... this book makes it easy now. I'm stuck. While on page 118 it says to not go further without validating. Well, The server is there and when browsing the network I can see the Samba server. When I try to connect it wants

syntax for playlist
I should be more specific . What I meant to ask was - is it necessary for the directory that icecast streams or serves files from to "everyone" or the "world" have at least read permissions. I do plan to experiment with the permisions but I was just asking to see if any one had already tried this. I like to lock down my system as much as possible. Thanks for the help!

OpenH323-Channel Q.931-Problems with Gatekeeper
Dear Mailinglist-User currently we`re working with an IP-PBX, based on Asterisk, with SIP, H.323 and ISDN-Capabilities. SIP and ISDN works fine, but H.323 not. In our first test, we started to connect Asterisk to an Cisco IOS-Gatekeeper with the "chan_oh323" (version 0.6.5). We successfully tested in/egress calls without any problems. But when we started to connect our Asterisk

Missing attributes on RODC.
Hello, we use Samba 4.10.13 as RODC for our Kopano mailserver. We have certain users and groups, were not all attributes are synced over to the RODC. For the users in question, we found out that if we do a manual "samba-tool rodc preload user", then that would also make the missing attributes appear on the RODC. So, any reason why certain attributes will not sync to a RODC? In our case

Not that I sympathize with the OP's manners but...
