NT4 RAS Dial-in with Samba 3 PDC
Hi,
I am searching for information on how to set up an NT4 RAS server to
authenticate users against a Samba 3 PDC. Right now we have 2 domain
controllers and the plan is to phase them out. We want to set up samba
as the PDC, but we need RAS to work for the time being. Is there a way
to do this? We are going to use the LDAP backend for samba. Is it
also possible to have our NT4 BDC stay

readRegistry function (PR#12937)
Full_Name: Zivan Karaman
Version: 2.7.2

Submission from: (NULL) (195.6.68.214)
I'm puzzled by the readRegistry function.
Shouldn't the "hive" argument be something like

contribute to rsync
Hello All,
Myself Garvit Sharma working in hyderabad central
university(HCU) at DCIS. I have started using rsync to sync the data and i
found it very interesting. After using rsync a lot i realized to contribute
to rsync by adding some extra features into it. Every time for
synchronization we need to do it manually by executing command on the
command line but instead of doing it

--delete question.
Please advise on rsync usage. --delete doesn?t work without recursion(--recursion). The recursion is causing huge overheads for me. My directory trees are huge. Any suggestions through which I can cut overheads. It used to work well in rsync-v2.5.5
/opt/rsync-v2.5.5/bin/rsync --delete --checksum -lptgoD --rsync-path=/opt/rsync-v2.5.5/bin/rsync --hard-links --timeout=5184000 --exclude=.snapshot

Upgrading a Samba Domain
I am trying to upgrade our fully functional Samba domain from v3.0.2 to
v3.0.7 or v3.0.8. My question is, do I have to upgrade every server in
the domain in order for it to work or should I be able to upgrade one
server at a time, test it, and move on to the next server? Or should I
upgrade the domain controller first, then upgrade the member servers one
at a time?
I've tried to upgrade

How to use rsync when filenames contain double quotes?
Hello,
I am trying to synchronize the content of the directory my_dir/ from /home
to /backup. This directory contains a file which name has a double quote in
it, such as to"to. Here is my rsync command:

And I get the following message:

--delete-during acts like --delete-before
Hello, I use rsync v3.0.7 with "--delete-during", but it appears to act more like "--delete-before". I've checked the docs and list archives, but I am still discovering some of the subtleties of rsync, and I can't see where I'm going wrong. There's an example of my issue below... can anybody set me straight? =-)

that Samba was the culprit here, but unus vir nullus vir. Your feedback
would be appreciated.

Compile Samba for Windows Use - SMBClient.exe mainly
I have an odd use case where I need to get the Samba Client (SMBClient.exe) compiled for use on a Windows 2012 server to access another Windows 2012 Server through SMB. I have scoured the internet, posted to forums, and even emailed authors that have compiled older version of Samba with no luck. For example Lee Peckham complied just the client and posted it here:

dsync-2.2.7 incorrectly synchronizes subscription status of renamed mailbox
Hi,
It seems that dsync-2.2.7 doesn't correctly synchronize subscription status
of a renamed mailbox. The situation is as follows.
There are two servers: A and B, and a test user test_mdbox. Mailboxes
(mdbox) of this user on both servers are synchronized. Specifically on both
of them there is a (subscribed) Test1 mailbox. Replication plugin is
disabled.
I rename Test1 to Test2 on A with
