Thanks. I'll have to try that. I wonder why ezstream would ever stop
sending data for that long though. What version of ezstream are you
running?

Syslinux patch
Out of necessity, a friend of mine and I have created a patch for
syslinux to allow it to modify the mbr and partition table in windows.
It adds a -m option to syslinux. If given, it will overwrite the MBR of
the drive specified with the mbr.bin provided in syslinux, and if the
bootable flag is not set on the partition being syslinuxed, it will set
it. This was done to distribute with my USB

eztream broken pipe, 0.2.0 doesnt compile
Well, I see ezstream 0.2.0 is downloadable, so I downloaded it and tried
to compile. Unfortunately it won't compile for me. The configure
script runs fine. Here's the output of make.

smbmount of Windows 2000/XP disregards uid option
Hello!
I'm mounting Windows 2000/XP disk drives from Linux RedHat 7.3 using
smbmount. No problems, the disks are mounted.
However, it disregards the "uid" and "gid" options and leaves the
smbfs owned by "root" giving the "uid" user read-only access and not
read-write as expected. Adding the "rw" doesn't help either.

Icecast locks with WARN connection/_accept_connection accept() failed with error 24: Too many open files
My icecast server has been running happily for months now, but just
yesterday it locked up, chewing up all the cpu time it could find, and
not allowing connections. The last snippet of the error log shows this:

FW: How to delay before mounting root filesystem
yup runned it. probably something wrong with my initrd filesystem. can
you send me a directory listing of your initrd? and probably a sample
linuxrc.
if worse comes to worse, i'll probably load my usb and scsi modules in the
initrd.
i'm probably doing it all wrong. i'm trying to imitate the slackware10usb
way of booting up. every driver built in the kernel, patch on the mounting

Erratic behavior with smbmount
I'm running Linux Fedora Core 2 with Samba 3.0.3-5
installed. I'm experiencing some strange behavior
when I try to mount a FAT32 share on a Win2k
workstation.
After a fresh reboot, when I try smbmount (or
mount.smb) everything seems to work (no error
messages). Then when I try to access the mountpoint -
via Nautilus or by doing "ls" in a terminal - the
system freezes. If I

uid and gid from unix to unix
Server: Samba 3.0.14a on Debian 3.1 stable with kernel 2.6.8.1
Client smbclient 3.0.7 on Mandrake 10.1
Problem: Share is mounted (by smbmount) with uid's and gid's values from
Debian server. So user have no proper rights to catalogues in mounted
shares on his local machine.
Question: How to make uid and gid "mapping" from unix to unix?
Exemplary: User john has uid=502 and

uid and gid problems with linux as client and server
Hi,
I'm using samba 3.0.4 (stock debian packages) as a client and a server.
The problem is I have a different uid on server (1001) to my client
(1000) so when I try and access a file I appear to the client as not
being the owner. I have tried the uid and gid options in smbmount, but
they do not seem to have any affect (I assume the unix cifs extensions
are overiding them).
On the server

[PATCH] smbfs: smbfs do not honor uid, gid, file_mode and dir_mode supplied by user mount
Hi,
This patch fixes "Samba Bugzilla Bug 999". The last version (2.6.8.1) of
smbfs kernel module do not honor uid, gid, file_mode and dir_mode
supplied by user during mount. This bug is also logged as "Kernel Bug
Tracker Bug 3330". I think this stuff is related to the "unix
extensions". This patch offers to the client side the opportunity to
decide to use or

Setting up CUPS for Samba on 390
I've scoured the newsgroups and asked MANY people, does anyone out there
have any ideas ?
I'm new to the CUPS arena and I'm trying to figure out what to do from
the separate docs. I'm using SLES7 (2.4.7 kernel). The files I'm using
are:
4368072 May 22 06:22 cups-1.1.19rc5-source.tar.gz
197341 May 22 06:22 cups-samba-1.1.19rc2.tar.gz

listener authentication for multiple mountpoints; client connections seems high
Two quick questions:
1. Is it ok to use the same password file for multiple mountpoints, or
will that cause problems?
2. Why would my clients number 113 larger than my number of listeners?
It was right earlier today, but when I restarted the sources it
increased by 113, and it has stayed that high since then. I find it
especially odd since I have clients set to 100 in icecast.xml, and

Setting the timeout of smbmount
Hi!
How do i set how long smbmount should attempt to connect a share before
timing out?
I have a couple of shares set for automatic mounting (in fstab). Problem
is: if i move my computer to another network, were these shares aren't
available, my init scripts are delayed for several minuits while
smbmount (ordered by the "mount -a" command in the init scripts)
attempts to connect
