Wine and USB scanner access ?
Hi,
I'm using latest Wine (20050310) with Debian sid (kernel 2.6.11).
I own an USB 1.1 scanner : Agfa SnapScan 1212U.
I successfully installed ScanWise software provided by the vendor (2.0.0.9 version) but when I
launch it, it behaves as if the scanner's light wasn't on, or it was unplugged : it asks for me to
connect the scanner.
Below is the debugging info. I also tried to

Re: Different printer drivers ...
Greetings,
I've now received private e-mail saying that others have seen this problem,
sent e-mail to this list and received no answers. That ultimately, they
ended up altering their Windows clients to use LPR instead of Samba.
Is this really something that a genuine MS Windows server can handle and
Samba cannot?
Does anybody know when these other drivers stopped working well and what

Samba3 server tries to sync WINS with itself and fails
I have a Samba 3 server that is trying to sync with itself. I have
wins support = yes in the samba configuration file and there are no
other WINS servers on the network.
The IP address of the Samba server is 192.168.10.4 and is trying to
sync with itself but fails...

BIOS Flash?
I know, I probably gave a lot of people heart attacks just from that title.
I'm not saying that I would actually try flashing my BIOS with WINE, I was just wondering, purely out of theoretical curiosity, if it's even possible to flash the BIOS by initiating an "exe" BIOS flasher from within WINE.
I would suspect not, given that WINE "can't even" run Windows

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file
in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a
TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the
user is logged on?

Validate Ids Multiple DC
If you add the "not" supported winbind options from the member also to the DCs, then you will have the same resulting uid on all servers.
Official not supported, but works now for more then a year here.
( sernet samba 4.2.7 on debian wheezy )
This is my addition to the smb.conf on the DC.
## map id's outside to domain to tdb files.

Validate Ids Multiple DC
Hello Carlos.
Fist please post to the list, this way everybody can help.
The ids like : 3000036 are i think from a samba DC with RID setup.
If you want to login also on the DC with for example SSH.
Add also the template lines.
Fix the idmap.
net getdomainsid
net idmap delete ranges YOURDOMAIN_SID
restart the DC.
And check again.

Sick Samba 3.0.14a-3 Server - in a world of pain!
I wrote such a generic subject line because I'm stuck and not quite
sure where to go...
It's a Samba 3.0.14a-3 server running on Debian stable. It uses LDAP
authentication and is the primary Domain server on the network.
Until around a month ago the server '''seemed''' to be fine, but now I
have to massage it to life every morning just so the users can access

Samba Group issues - LDAP
Hi all,
Not exactly sure what's the problem here. I use GoSA
(https://gosa.gonicus.de/) to create users in our LDAP system, and
lately when I create new users they don't have any Group associations
in Samba.
I have a bunch of groups in the LDAP tree as well as users. The
server uses libnss_ldap and pam_ldap to access the ldap tree.
If use do getent group then i'll see this...
