How to bind 2 WAN 1 LAN ?
You need a combination of iptables and iproute2 to do what you want = because routing is based on it's DESTINATION address and you need to route on = your SOURCE address so it uses a different route depending on which source = IP is in the packet.. Refer to this page which is sort of what you want BUT not exact. It'll = give you some ideas...

defining directly to the wan/lan
I have a fedora system configured and running with virsh using kvm/qemu. All I want is to have a fixed ipaddress for that virtual machine. I know that there is the Host and Guest sides to the network. The host has virbr0 interface, which i guess is a bridge. Seem when ever I define a interface to the guest with a type=routed it hoses my other interfaces on the host and requires a console reboot --

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Guus: Ok, I accept your challenge. But I am clueless in terms of getting the routing table correct. So each server has a dual identity, both a LAN private identity with a PRIVATE IP address and a WAN public identify with a PUBLIC ip address. And how to have 2 different tun devices show up in the ifconfig -a so that LAN IP address can be assigned to the tun0 and a WAN IP address can be assigned

Tuning OSX samba for WAN vs LAN
Hello my Sambese friends, Has anyone got info on tuning the SMB client in OSX for connecting to Samba servers across a WAN/VPN? I get decent performance locally, but when I reach across our VPN link to another site, throughput falls right to garbage when compared with FTP. Thanks in advance for any tips. --Rob Rob LaRose systems administrator imaginary forces | 530 west 25th street | new

Issue calling from WAN to LAN extension
Hi, I have a weird issue that I hope someone can help me with. I have 2 test computers and I've changed each the roles of each one with the same results. I have one xlite client running across a VPN and another connecting directly from the WAN via the external IP. The client connecting directly to the external IP can call the client running across the VPN no problem. However, the client

Wish list
While the subject is new features, here''s something I''d like to see. I''d like to have a way for shorewall to be able to monitor a log file and take an action when a condition is met. For instance, if Shorewall could monitor /var/log/httpd/access_log for entries which I have defined (and know to be an attack), and then take an action such as blacklisting a host or domain

Winbind cache
Hi all, we are having some troubles with the integration of some Solaris 9 Sparc servers on a Windows 2003 Server Active Directory domain. When we made the tests on a Solaris 9 Intel server, everything run successfully. After that we run some group membership tests, just changing users from one to another group on the W2K3 Server. We've seen on those tests that winbind was caching the

Polycom SIP Phones On LAN can't register without WAN (Internet) Access
We are having an issue that I have been unable to figure out how to resolve. I think its related to the Polycom Phones and not the Asterisk configuration, but I'm not positive. We have several Polycom 500/501/601's on both a LAN and at employee homes. The problem we are having is if our internet connection goes down the Local LAN phones loose their connection to the Asterisk Server.

Strange smbclient -L behaviour across WAN link
Hello folks, I hope somebody here can help shed light on this peculiar behaviour of smbclient. When we execute: smbclient -L <host> and the host is across a VPN link traversing a WAN (DSL) link we get the following: 1. <host> is Windows 98SE: OK, smbclient completes 2. <host> is Windows XP or Samba 3.x: smbclient is able to retrieve the share list but hangs trying to get

PDC and BDC across WAN
We have several locations seperated by WAN links. There is one PDC in the central office, and a BDC at each other site. The PDC has a WINS server, all other servers and stations are configured to query this server (hybrid mode - WINS first, then broadcast.) Here is my problem: When one of the BDCs is disconnected from the network, all of the sites suffer problems (ie., Windows logins slow down

Samba across WAN link
Hello All, We have 2 Samba servers in our domain at our site. Server A) is a Primary Domain Controller that everyone logs into and Server B) just has drives shared on it. We have another site with a Server C) running MARS NWE we are connected to via a 256k WAN link. If we were to run Samba on this Server C) and set it up like Server B) i.e. Have all 3 servers in the same domain all with one
