Hello, My problem is the following : I have a Debian (testing distribution) on which I used to have Samba server v3.0.2a it worked perfectly with my other machine which is running Windows 2000. Wrong user used when mounting with mount.cifs
This may be sorta off topic considering this is probably regarding the linux kernel but I am hoping someone here will have the answer anyway. I am having the strangest problem when mounting a samba share with "-t cifs" as opposed to "-t smbfs" where, instead of mounting as the user I am logged in as, it is mounted as if I were logged on as a completely different user. [-mm PATCH 2/32] fs: fix-up schedule_timeout() usage
Description: Use schedule_timeout_{,un}interruptible() instead of set_current_state()/schedule_timeout() to reduce kernel size. Also use helper functions to convert between human time units and jiffies rather than constant HZ division to avoid rounding errors. Unable to access and browse a DFS tree
Please help me understand why I am unable to connect to and browse the newly configured DFS tree that I installed on my Samba server according to the instructions found in Chapter 18. "Hosting a Microsoft Distributed File System Tree" of the official how-to. Irrespective of whether I try to access the dfs file tree from either the local file browser (and choosing the SMB tree) or from

smbfs mount issues
This problem began a couple months ago with my new install of (you guessed it) XP sp2. Now, when i mount a share from the xp machine to my debian box, everyone, including rot, gets a permission denied trying to ls the dir. I've read posts about switching to cifs, but that has opened a whole new can of worms. I'd just like to see smbfs mount my shares properly the way they used to. My

mount with uid does not give correct local uid (kernel 2.6)
Hi, I'm running smbd 3.0.5 with kernel 2.4.26. I connect with a Linux-client (also samba 3.0.5 installed) on kernel 2.6.7 with this directive: mount -t smbfs -o uid=1005,username=joe,workgroup=lanz //prim/joe /mnt/test As a result, the directory /mnt/test is owned by uid=1005 but all the subdirectories and files in this directory are owned by uid 1001. This uid (1001) is that of joe on

Why does everyone seem to dislike *now?
Greetings, Last week I began researching Asterisk for the first time. I did what most noobs would do; downloaded an image that seemed simple and straightforward and had some credibility (*now). I also downloaded the TFOT version 1 as a guide. As questions arose, I tossed a few out in #asterisckNOW channel..and found it to be a ghost town. Only later did i start to ask a few

mounting win2003 server shares fails
I emailed about this before but didn't get any response. I am desperate. I can mount the share of any computer in the domain. XP (even with sp2), 2000, etc... everything works no problem. When I try to mount a share on a win2003 server, the command completes successfully, but when I try to view the folder, it is not showing. I have tried several variations of commands: mount -t smbfs -o

Samba 2.2.6 Write Problem
Hi all, recently I asked for help with a problem Samba had to write files (http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/2002-November/085003.html, http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/2002-November/085083.html). Since that hasn't solved, and since it occurs regardless of changes of the smb.conf, I'd like to post some passages of the smb log file (log level 4) of the attempt to copy a file to

Review about uid and gid mount option
Hi everybody! I had a problem (now solved) with the UIDs and GIDs assigned to my SMB filesystem once mounted. I have discovered several things and I wanted to send my review to the list, maybe you'll find it usefull or maybe you could add more info. First of all let's describe the problem: I mount my SMB share (SAMBA 3.0.14a server) on my local filesystem (Linux box), but
