Conversion from Centos 5 to Centos 7 & mailx changes
Stephen and Kenneth,
Thank you very much for your help.
I tried 'MAILRC=/dev/nul' which I put in /etc/mail.rc as
'set MAILRC=/dev/null'
But I did not identify that this changed any behavior.
The link below was very helpful Stephen thank you for your kindness in digging this out for
me.

Monitor Network Traffic
What is the best way to monitor the total incoming / outcoming network traffic of CentOS server. I think that the solution is to monitor the network interfaces and to send SNMP packets to remote server. But is it possible?

Conversion from Centos 5 to Centos 7 & mailx changes
Everyone,
I have just upgraded a Centos 5 server to a Centos 7 server and am
having difficulty with a change of behavior of mailx with the use of a
command line of :
mail -s 'This is the subject' user at domain.com < text_file.txt
On Centos 5 when mailx was used by a program started by a cron job we
were able to send a text file as an email message and the headers did

Solaris /bin/sh was a real real dumb version of the bourne shell.
Solaris included /bin/ksh as part of the core distribution (ksh88 was a
part of the SVr4 specification) and so many scripts were written with
#!/bin/ksh at

You must supply a password to make this connection - IPC$
Hi Folks,
Just installed Samba 2.2.10 on my FreeBSD 4.9 computer.
I can see the FreeBSD box on all of my Win 9x boxes,
but when I double click on its icon, I get a rude box
message that says something like:

Yippee, that worked!? I was able to unmask (systemctl unmask
samba-ad-dc) and samba started.? wbinfo --ping-dc returns the new DC!?
Also get correct groups and users with wbinfo

How to use xl (in place of xm) with libvirt 1.0.2 and Xen 4.2.1 in Ubuntu 13.04?
QUESTION: What, if anything, can I do so that I can use xl (in place of
xm) with libvirt 1.0.2 and Xen 4.2.1 in Ubuntu 13.04?

xen-hypervisor-4.2-amd64 - version 4.2.1-0ubuntu1
Upon setting TOOLSTACK=xm in /etc/default/xen (as well as

what''s wrong with engines
sorry to flog a dead horse - but just read through:
http://weblog.rubyonrails.com/articles/2005/11/11/why-engines-and-components-are-not-evil-but-distracting
I both disagree and agree with that post.
The following both seem like good ideas to me:
1. Keep rails core simple
2. Allow 3rd parties to add functionality through plugins
I want a simple auth/login system. And I don''t want to

OK - This is a quick & dirty hack - I'm sure there are several more elegant
solutions... But it works. NOTE: this is designed for a Shoutcast server.
You'd need to change the check= lines to work with Icecast. Couldn't find

Wine Staging fixes bugs!
Hi All,
I have extraordinary good news to share!
Red Hat (Fedora 22, Enterprise Linux 7) has switched from Wine to
Wine Stating. Wine Stating is Wine with a bunch of bugs fixed
and developers that take fixing bugs seriously.
I have had bugs registered with regular Wine for over six years.
I don't know what your experience with Wine is, but I have found
that it is an extremely unusual
