'point-and-print' general questions
I have gotten 'point-and-print' working, but there are a couple small issues/questions I am trying to get my grasp around: - rpcclient print-1201 -U root%secret -c 'enumdrivers' this lists the drivers twice (I saw one other post about this, without any followup) - When adding drivers via the Windows APW, after uploading the drivers and the APW closing - are you supposed to

PRINTER share not appearing
I was doing good - getting close to rolling out a point-n-print samba/cups server when while uploading a driver file, I got some random windows error about the PRINT SUSBYSTEM was not available. After reconnecting to the samba server, the PRINTER share was gone. Uninstall the SAMBA RPM and re-install yielded nothing. I cant figure out what happened to it. any ideas?

failing to print 'point-n-print'
Samba 3.0.6 I have successfully gotten other printers to work using the 'point-n-click' method for downloadable drivers. However, playing with one printer leads to failed results. I have created the CUPS port/printer, added it to samba and then used the Windows APW to upload the drivers. After upload, the print properties windows readjusts for the new printer options - I have checked

So, is there another place to get images for Xen 3?

rpcclient error / printer driver issue
SUSE 9.1 samba-3.0.9-2.6 samba-client-3.0.9-2.6 I am getting some errors that I can't seem to track down in any of the archives. I came across this problem when trying to delete a driver none of the printers are listed in the smb.conf - it is all being generated from the cups and the printcap that cups makes on load First enumprinters works: rpcclient $> enumprinters

Folder Permissions
Hi, I have Samba up and running as well as winbind. I have ran some tests to confirm that yes indeed winbind is able to query the Windows NT 4.0 PDC for user/group/password information. However I am having difficulty understanding how to set shares up in samba so that I can apply permissions to them using my Windows user information rather than creating each user on samba with the same password

Rsync of several directories doesn't delete files
Hello. I'm trying to use rsync to keep a backup of a web server (named "www") on a separate machine (named "backup"). "Www" is running Trustix Linux 1.5 (kernel 2-2-20-2tr) with rsync 2.5.4 protocol 26. "Backup" is running OpenBSD 3.0. Rsync is using OpenSSH 3.1p1 as the transport. Files that are deleted from "www" are not deleted from

Rich and I have updated the Wiki page "Asterisk rollout tips" with advice on how to plan and implement your Asterisk rollout. This page is based on many discussions on the mailing list, so don't be surprised if your comment or thought is included in the text. RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Isn't it ridiculous that Hammer charges an arm and a leg for any work they do. For systems as large as that one, we just setup a seperate one, connect them back to back and run automated script to burn it in. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of William Boehlke Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006

3.0.11 pthread_once errors
I have installed Samba 3.0.11 on OpenBSD 3.6. It is linked with MIT Kerberos 1.4, which was installed to /usr/local/kerberos. Whenever i run a Samba application (any of them; i get these messages when starting any of the smbd, nmbd, or winbindd daemons, as well as user applications such as smbclient) i get a screen full of errors. Everything so far seems to be working, but the errors are a

advice sought on possible rollout
Hi all, one of our clients have three branch offices currently connected by ADSL lines. they are using Cisco 827-4V units with the FXS ports connected to their aging PBX units. I am thinking of installing an * server in the head office, maybe with an analogue FXO card connected to the PSTN so field officers in Melbourne can call sydney for a local call price. The question is - what Digium

Production-environment AD rollout?
Hey, all. I've used Samba a lot, but took a job about four years ago during which time I've only used it for one-off projects. Looks like I might take a new job, though, and I'll get to call the shots. I'd *love* to have Samba with AD running things, and just have Windows in-place as clients (possibly with Exchange... can't win 'em all). Is this feasible in this day and

ADVICE: Generating unique identifiers for later DB insertion
All, I have an ActiveRecord object that I need to be able to uniquely identify _before_ I actually save the object (I may not end up saving the object based on conditions). This is because I want to use the ID in another context (a file name in the filesystem). Depending on conditions, I may or may not need to do a lot of stuff between the time that I generate the object ID and actually

So sorry! was: Re: EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
As the OP for this thread, it saddens me to see that the thread I started has now been used as a forum for behavior of the worst kind seen in professional circles. I'm a longtime user of CentOS and merely wanted to know of users' past experiences transitioning between SL and CentOS. My first experience with CentOS was as a transition from Whitebox to CentOS, and the process was as

windows file compatibility aka A Cry For Help
Everything is going amazing in the windows->samba conversion until I ran into a roadblock..I really dont know what may be going on so I will outline it as best as I can. We have a program called realty toolkit which saves its configuration and security settings onto the network. Well, after putting the files onto the linux box, it no loger wants to work, the security check fails. calling the

Migrate BACK to WINDOWS -> Talk me out of it QUICK
Not thinking about migrating back due to issues, it is more due to implementation needs and a little situation I have been wrestling with with for a bit now, and would love some feedback First a little history: We currently have 10 locations connected via a dedicated 1/2 T-1. Last year I migrated from a WINNT domain to a Samba/LDAP domain. It has been running great. Basically did this for
