Source RPM please
Hi, I''m a long ext3 user (rpmfind.net). I propagated ext3 on some of our server box (W3C webservers are ext3 based too now). I might be tempted of testing out your kernel RPMs but unavailability or the source RPM and the SMP version are definite showstoppers. Please provide them. In the meantime I will stick to my own set of kernel ext3 RPMs at ftp://rpmfind.net/pub/veillard/ext3/

quota on ext3 fs
hi everyone, i installed the ext3 fs on a test machine and tried to use quota on the ext3 filesystem. When i use the command quotaon /dev/hdb2 (the partition with the ext3 fs) i get the message: quotaon: using /home/quota.user on /dev/hdb2: Invalid argument. I created the quota.user and quota.group files and set the permissions to 600. I use quota-2.oopre3-7a, e2fsprogs-1.20-0ext3, kernel 2.2.18

Undelete?
Hi, I just found out, I deleted an important file, which was (of course) just downloaded to the computer from the digital camera, and deleted there. So, no backups. But when I tried to find the deleted INODE with debugfs and lsdel It said "no files deleted". Is this the normal behaviour? Is there a possibility of getting the data back? The kernel I use is 2.2.17-6 from the RH

Update e2fsprog-1.25 in linux/Documentation/Changes
Hey Stephen or Ted, Since ext3 is incorporated in linux-2.4.15-pre3 do you think we should update the Documentation/Changes since so many people had troubles with e2fsprog-2.1.19 and ext3 ? I couldn't see any RPM's after 2.1.19 so I removed RPM from the Changes file. Albert --- linux/Documentation/Changes.orig Sun Nov 11 22:17:34 2001 +++ linux/Documentation/Changes Sun Nov 11 22:21:07

Advice on upgrading to 3.5.0
Many thanks Dirk, kind-of makes sense and I think my 'hold your horses' attitude is probably safest for now. Two follow-up questions: - Roughly how long will it be until "everything has been rebuilt"? - Could this seemingly new project help manage external deps: https://github.com/r-hub/sysreqsdb ? e2fsprogs and ext3
One of my servers appears to have some filesystem corruption. I'm running Red Hat 6.2 with kernel 2.2.19pre6 and ext3 0.5e. That server currently has e2fsprogs-1.20-WIP-0117 installed. Is it OK to upgrade to the latest e2fsprogs (i.e.: 1.22) prior to running the e2fsck on the filesystem? --Shawn

ext3-0.0.7a for 2.2.19 is released
Hi all, ext3-0.0.7a is now out, at the usual places: ftp.uk.linux.org:/pub/linux/sct/fs/jfs/ and propagating now from ftp.*.kernel.org:/pub/linux/kernel/people/sct/ext3/ This fixes one major bug in ext3 recovery for metadata-only journaling. Because recovery can also happen in e2fsck, users should also upgrade to at least e2fsprogs-1.21-WIP-0601 (also provided at the above ftp sites).

ext3-0.0.5d released
Hi, ext3-0.0.5d.tar.gz is now up on ftp.uk.linux.org:/pub/linux/sct/fs/jfs/ and ftp.*.kernel.org:/pub/linux/kernel/people/sct/ext3/ as patches against 2.2.18. This only contains the kernel bits: we're in the process of syncing up on some e2fsprogs so I'll do another release shortly once we've got all of the pending changes for the user-mode tools assembled. This release is mostly
